Before this round of mods (Upgraded turbos, Clutch, LWFW, ICs and Y-Pipe and boost hoses) I had your exact setup: maxed out K24s -with upgraded wastegates being the key ingredient as I'm sure you know. Let me tell you that the 2860s transform the experience. They significantly outspool the K24s AND deliver a big top end punch in all gears. In retrospect, K24s seem totally outside their comfort zone in the lower gears on this car. Sure you can slip the clutch and launch it, but I'm talking about throttle response when in gear. Using the smallest turbos that can make the power we want adds heat. These boost 1.4 BAR on pump.

I got the ICs because my tuner (who does not sell, and has no way of profiting from intercoolers) strongly recommended them when dyno tuning the car. I'm actually looking forward to get the results once the car is retuned for the intercoolers.

Which Intake ?

It can if it happens to be the flow restriction point.

The EVOMS intercoolers are a nice looking piece of kit, congrats on your purchase. I don't know who EVOMS uses for high-performance coatings, but I can personally recommend Swain Tech Coatings' BBE coating for heat dissipation.

If your ICs are still new and not yet mounted on the car, you can ship 'em to Swain and they'll coat them and ship 'em back. Had them do a front-mount heat-exchanger for my C32 and it turned out great. FYI, the coating has a stealthy, satin-black look to it. Best of luck, hope that helps.

We use Swain Tech's BBE coating which as stated is designed to dissipate heat and improve cooling efficiency. When we decided to use Swain Tech’s BBE coating for our intercoolers, their testing data showed an increase in heat dispersion efficiency of ~10-15% with the BBE coating applied over the same part without any coating. Though the primary purpose of the coating is to improve cooling, the coating also offers a durable semi-gloss black finish.

You are welcome. It may be a coincidence, but some time ago I shared our discovery with sharkster and within a month it was on the EVO product list. You guys had a very good IC before you found out about the Swain coating. With the Swain coating it is that much better. We discovered it (Swain) awhile back when when were looking into a certain very good European IC manufacturer.

Swain has an excellent reputation - many would argue "best in the biz" - for all of their racing/automotive coatings. Their TBC, Gold Dome, White Lightning, etc etc. For those that aren't aware, their website is a wealth of good info on coatings and what they can do.

Not surprised that a high-end tuner/engine builder like EVOMS would use their products/services.

Ouch - those ICs mentioned in the post were pricey, eh? IIRC, I've only known of Swain's work for ~2 years... so you've got at least a year on me.

It's OT for this thread but, cjv, you seem to have extensive knowledge about P-car turbos - I've seen your posts in both the 996 and 997 turbo sub-forums. Do you have a build thread anywhere that I could peruse? Please PM if so.

Since you guys extensively datalog - can you tell us if you were able to confirm their claims? IMO th ecoating is cheap enough that if it even does 5% it's worth it but I'd still be interested in what you guys found out real world...

FWIW I used the Swain white coating on a set of turbo manifolds for a V8 Mustang at least 12 years ago. They have indeed been around a long time! I just wish the white didn't absorb grease\oil or scuff so darned easily...
