The Death Star is Operational
She's baaaaack... Got FOD damage on one of the turbos during the shoot out but Mike rebuilt/rebalanced it for me and tested the car out some tonight. Too fast... I can't even launch properly. Spins all over the place sidewayz... Did I mention 29PSI? Oh and as for lag, 24 PSI in our own parking lot.
Anyways wish us luck guys, James and I are heading up to Sacramention Raceway (drag strip) tomorrow to try and do what we couldn't do during the shoot out and do a full pass WITH boost. It's going to be pretty hairy and I'm nervous about traction. Bear in mind I'm using the same Turbos as Todd's car (minus some of his stuff and of course my ghey tranny). Might bring a spare MAF too It's going to be very cold tomorrow so traction could be an issue but we'll see.
Also we might get a special guest appearance by Fred's GIAC chipped Cayenne Turbo. I did a couple of practise launches on that thing and I have to say it pulls out of the hole so darn hard it's funny....

You really don't like your engine do you. That kind of boost and stock rods. The end is coming soon.
Good luck my friend. I have a spare motor with a built bottom end and zero hours available.

Report...
OK guys/gals- here's the report on the day (went pretty well overall). The air quality was very poor and many cars (especially forced induction cars) weren't trapping as well as they could... I used my high boost setting first and rolled out. Car didn't like it at all and was having trouble boosing so I coasted in at 11.6 @125. OK so tried again. High boost wasn't working and I was knocking and again the car wasn't happy. Finally I decided to use my low-boost map (for 94 ocante) and got the car to boost 23 PSI for a full pass. Much better 11.3 @ 126. Did it again (ECU learning) and went 11.1 @126 with a 1.78 60 foot. Took a breather from heat soak and decided to shift manually this time. Ran an 11.05 @ 127 with a 1.75 60 foot- this was a soft launch with very little boost (I can go harder). I also hit the revlimiter from 2nd to 3rd (you can hear the video so that robbed me of a 10. Darnit so I tried one more time before closing time and got a 1.74 60 foot and an 11.03 @ 126.7. Overall I'm pretty happy with that- in lower boost
Now for the kicker, I'm going to use much better gas next time and try to get my high boost back and run the 29PSI... With 6 PSI, slightly better air quality and some luck I think we're very close now to a proper 10.
Of course Todd promised me he'd skip the 10s (leave those to me) and go for the 9s instead, right Todd?
BTW I have timeslips and a video I'll post soon
PS The knock sensor/supression works increadibly well and dependan upon gas seems to limit things in terms of boost and safety... Lesson learned- use the best fricking gas possible
