So you have to wait around to alarm the car....does this defeat the entire purpose?

Per a conversation I had with Kevin at UMW, the ideal time to run the car per his data (he fixes trashed turbos for a living....and collected real data on temps) is
2 min.
More and heat soak kicks in.
Synthetic oil will coke in these cars....
Easy driving and running slowly on the road are very different according to him in terms of temp, etc. Not equal in the least to having the car just idling. Keep that in mind.
I personally always run for at least 1 minute and if at the track or driving hard, drive it easy around the parking lot a bit (mostly for the brakes...) and then idle the car 2 minutes without a parking brake down... That is my choice....I fully know that 1 minute is not equal to 2 minutes. I would say that in general I am running it 2 minutes about 95% of the time now. I just put that into my equation for life issues.
That genesis system sounds very interesting: please tell us more, part/model/costs/plus/minus issues. TIA.

I'm working on installing a remote starter in my car. Nice thing about these is that they have a pit stop mode where you can also use them to leave your car running when you take you're keys with you and will shut off after a specific period of time.
As far as arming the "Alarm" or "Siren".....c'mon guys, we all know that if someone wants your car bad enough they'll get it anyway. For those affraid of a busted window, put your man purse/ euro bag/ ipot in the trunk.
Besides, 1. These are wired that if you touch the brake the car shuts off. 2.You still need a key for the column lock. 3. Even if you use a spare key in the immobilizer bypass setup it would take tools and time to find it/ retrieve it to drive away. 4. I don't believe that anyone drives their Turbo uninsured.
