Last time I was up in Famoso two years ago a couple of Giac tuned 996tts with 28 turbos were present. None of them hit passed 11.7s with this said, at Fontana he should have gone faster b/c it's at sea level not 12's. Get me his name so I can check Famoso's board, I know the ownersBTW, my avatar pics is at Famoso Dragway.

 

What were his trap speeds? If he was truly capable of going that fast his trap would have reflected it unless there were some serious mechanical issues. Hrm, sure wish I could tune my own car, 10s or not I'm jealous of that!

 

Just a heads up for everyone.

I know the car... This is the first time it was ever at the drag strip (never ran 10.5), the owner never worked for GIAC, cant tune his own car, and these are k16/28s not A28s.

 

Good thing I did not call Famoso's owners, they would be saying WHO??

that .5 sec difference is at least 100 rwhp if not more... to run a 11.0 and 10.5 is huge in 1/4 mile terms...

Sure, i understand. If Vince's 60ft time was 1.6 sec, and he had RWD conversion and some basic weight reduction (-200 lbs) and sticky tires...I think a 10 sec pass is very real. Not sure about 10.5 exactly but close to it.

I think when he was at the track , his car had boost related issues and was making only 1.2 bar. Now he is at 1.4 bar.

All i am saying is a 10 sec pass is possible by a GT28 car if it has the right setup.

Fontana is a little over 1100 feet above sea level.

 

People have been running 10 sec passes with GT28 GT700's for years, that's nothing new. I am not aware of anybody (regardless of set up, track or driver) running a 10.5 though.

 

I will reserve commenting on this. But will say the owner likes drama and can usually be found close to the center of it....

 

Our cars suck at drag, I don't even know why people keep trying for E.T., just go run for trap speed and go home.

But that is pretty funny. I agree that GIAC = meh.

 

GT28 GT700 from Evoms have a k16 hot side , correct? I am talking about the new Tial Gt28 turbos , which is a completely different turbo and more capable. But i reserve the 10.5 sec claim until we see it happen...

 

EVOMS has used A28s for GT610, GT660, and GT700 kits for almost two years now. Before that I believe they used a K-16 hotside with a Garrett GT-28.
