I though at one time there was a post here about someone trying to collect all the disc for the PCM 1 and making copies. You might do a search.

Do the maps look any different, or are there just more streets/POIs? Thanks.

Maps look different. More colors are used, lakes, rivers, parks, and field show up now. I never use the POI.
So far it has not had any issues here in Texas. A few new (06 and newer) streets still are not in the database. Not a big dell yet.
You have to update the software first. That take about 10 minutes. Good idea to have the car running outside. If the battery dies during the upgrade process it can KILL the PCM.

OK, last question. (Until I have another one.) Did you do the upgrade from start to finish yourself? I thought I remembered someone saying that the PCM update had to be done at a dealer. Is it just a matter of loading new firmware from a disc, or is there other equipment involved?

One of the disc has the update. You just pop it in and cross your fingers. Again, if I were to do it over again I would make sure the car is running outside. I just sat in the garage with the car not running. It take about 10 min for the update to finish. It the battery dies or it shut off for some reason you can KILL the PCM forever. It is just like updating the firmware on a PC. Easy if all things go right. Per hell if they dont. I think Suncoast has 10% off right now too.
I looked long and hard over the net to find them and I couldn't. I am NOT sorry at all about buying them.

Cool, thanks. I haven't spent enough money on things I don't need recently, so I have to flag this one in.

PCM 2001.1 Update?

Does any one know if this PCM update will work on a 2001 GPS? I bought the wrong CDs on Ebay (dummy!) and I'm wondering if I can upgrade to make them work.

My dealer doesn't seem to have a clue about older PCM units, so they were no help. The CDs (3) I have are version USA East & West CD Pkg. 2004-1.

If i cannot upgrade my unit, I will post these for sale.

Thanks!
