I contacted both sellers, the Red X50 & the Black 996TT. Got the same email posted at the start of this thread for the Black 996TT & very simular one for the Red x50. When it is too good to be true you know why.

Have seen these scams for motorcycles to electronics.
PLEASE DO NOT Send deposits, or use money marts to send your hard earned money to these "low lifes". Im sorry but it really angers me to see how low some people are willing to go to STEAL!!
Basic plot, they take pictures from the net of a true ad, they study the market and make sure the price is very very attractive.
then they plot some sob story about someones death, unfortunate circumstance, and how they are left with the duty to sell, however,
ESCROW services will be mentioned now, for you to send partial or full payment.
THEY in turn offer to SHIP for free!!! even to another country sometimes..... lol.... hysterical !!, and you have to send through western union a determined amount.
Problem is, even if you send 100, you have lost that amount!!!
DO NOT SEND MONEY, and ebay doesnt have escrow services either, CONTACT THEM! they will tell you themselves.!

I just recently bought a car sight unseen & was as good as advertised. My suggestion is do it through a dealer that has a good reputation only. I would not do it with an individual without looking at it. I had no time to fly over different places looking for a car.

I did, my GT2 from RUF and it was the first time I have ever done that.. BUT, I think that is definitely an exception!

For a car like this, or private sale and auction? Hell no... My car was scammed 3 times (each of them) and wound up on the forums, people asking if I were selling.. These people even posted a fake VIN that wasn't even my car

I mean come on guy's, a "pristine" 996TT for 21k? We need to get real here, shouldn't even question it.

Sure have - my 1995 Supra was purchased that way. I spoke to the previous owner, he sent me many pics, I wired him a deposit, and it was trailered out by a good friend of his for a reasonable price. When it arrived it was as advertised and my only objection was the obnoxious clutch - I'll admit that clutch saved my life once so I cannot ***** too hard. It was eventually replaced along with many other things but the car was as advertised - there ARE still good people in the world. Sadly they can be pretty hard to find

Bought my 996TT sight unseen but from a dealer and had a new, two year CPO and all service records for last eight years.

Have had pretty solid experiences "sight unseen" with only a few minor items, but nothing major.

I have bought no less than 10 cars sight unseen and even bought three (Viper GTS, Mustang Cobra convertible and my Cayenne Turbo) while living in Italy and had delivered to my address here in the US just before we moved back to Florida.

When we got to our house here, all three were sitting in the garages.

The only problem is you have to fly to Nigeria to pick up the car and find a way to get it back to the US. Good luck with the PPI.

Easy fix. Stay and drive it there. Speeding ticket is cheap too. (pay on the side of road.)
