Thanks for your email and message.

What email address did you use to contact iWire ?

Thanks and PLS advise - JIM

PS. Also let me know how it works out for you when you receive it and install it.

BTW - I too drive an '03 996TT. What exhaust are you running ? Any other modifications you have done ? Have you upgraded your ECU ? What color is your TT ?

Here is the website where I ordered the cable: iWirep

Here is the email address where I reached the owner (it is a one-man operation): iwireporsches@gmail.com

I'm not sure if you are asking me for this info or not, but I figured what the hell.

Thanks for the point. Was an easy task. Fed the cable through the back of the box. All very smooth. Haven't tried it yet but the CD player w/in the radio head should still work as nothing was removed, only added. Sound seemed perfect, but was only sitting in my garage when tested.
Pretty cool.

JIM in Texasto a rep or did you order it directly off the site?

Strange. I just ordered online, paid with the detested PayPal, and a few days later the padded envelope showed up. Maybe it's the one-man nature of the operation that explains the inconsistency?

Did you have to pull the radio our of the dash to connect the iWire to your factory Porsche radio ?

How long did it take you to hook it up ?

THKS and PLS advise - JIM

Make sure it is for the CDR 22 radio. My 2003 Carrera 4S has the CDR 23 and the iWirep will NOT work for it. I have to uninstall it this coming week as it would not "read" it. I will be posting it up for sale once it take it out of mine.

I pulled the radio and completely disconnected. It's no problem to reconnect and reenter the radio security code. Having the radio head out of the way makes everything so much easier.
It took about an hour b/c I had a bit of a struggle getting the lower box removed so I could drill a hole in the back to feed the cable through. I wanted to make sure it was done right. The instructions are well written.

All Porsche factory sound system are basically junk. Always have been. I've dumped every single one (except the current as it just passible). Adapting anything to them is like putting a band aid on a bullet wound. If you don't care what it sounds like and it makes your ipod play through your speaker, then I'm happy for you. If you want serious audio, start from stratch, double din head unit, seperate amps, new speakers, subwoofer. A $500 after market head unit will make the factory stuff look like it came from an Edsel.

Honestly, sounds more snarky than happy for me; or anyone else. I bought this beast for two reasons: road handling beyond my ability and 550 hp, mas o menos, not the sound system. This little bit of iPod fluff suits me and it suits this motorcar.
So, yeah, I guess I'm happy.

But not only that, i could not get it to play (the iphone built-in speaker would play). Somewhere i read that the iPhone (and other ipods) charge on 5V USB and the pie cable charges 12V Firewire and i should try scosche adapter ($29.95) .
Anyway after some more research i went back to the vendor from which i purchased the pie solution and found a new solution called the Blau/8-din , which can be used with 3 other cables. I opted for the dock connector which they state will play and charge the 3G and older iPods. I emailed the company and was assured it would work with my iPhone and the CD-R220 radio.
I placed the order and two days later the parts were in my mailbox. Waited until the weekend and installed this thing in less than 15 minutes (i already had some experience removing the radio). This works. When i plug in my iphone the airplane warning message comes up, hit "NO" and the music plays loud and clear and the iphone charges. Another cool feature is that if i get a call the music will mute and resume play after the call has ended.
This cable also played/charged my ipod photo (60G).

caution:
The instructions says to connect the black wire to +12V on pin 5 (amp turn-on or something like that). I already tapped into a 12V ignition for the pie solution so i used that. At first everything worked, but as soon as crank the engine the iphone would stop charging and the warning message appears on the screen. Turn the engine off and charging resume. Figured i should follow the instructions and moved the black wire to pin 5 (amp turn on) and that solved the problem. I emailed discount car stereo about this and was told that the cable is "voltage sensitive" and with the car running the ignition wire changes from 12 to 14.4V, but the voltage on the amp turn on wire remains @ +12V. I doubled checked with a voltmeter and that proved to be true. So there you have it. If you opt for this solution make sure to connect the black wire to the amp or antenna turn on wire (they included a blue t-tap).
By the way, i have the pie solution for sale -- works with any ipod that charges on the firewire pins (12V).

12/10 Update.-- I'm told that a modification has been made so that the +12V charging wire can now be connected on any 12V supply including pin 7, pin 4 or pin 5
I've not had a chance to update this post but anyone with the newest iPods and iphones the solution i have has been updated again. I got an email about 4 weeks ago showing this link:
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/iP-BKR2.html
i already have a similar solution but i post this link for anyone with a becker pre-2000 model in need of an iPod adapter.

this is the one i run. I have a iphone 4S. it charges the iphone, and allows you to control everything from the factory head unit. The only thing it does not do is show the artist/song title. there is even an adapter for bluetooth. It comes from the UK. I absolutely love it. I was running the Iwire basic since i had an i phone, this adapter is leaps and bounds past the Iwire setup

I placed an order for this yesterday. Seems to have pretty good reviews so I'm hoping for a quick and painless method to run and ipod and iphone.

I removed the factory radio so the iPod cable that I bought and installed is no longer needed. Worked fine and it was pretty easy to install. If anyone wants it it's free if you pay the freight. Sorry, you'll have to get the installation instructions elsewhere. Oh, I had it in my 2002 GT2.
I'm not very good about checking PM's so you might want to email me at doscazadores@me.com if you want it.
