How much should one pay for low mileage?
Hello Forum Members…
I don’t feel like a new member as I have been viewing this site as a guest for months and have read hundreds of posts…
I’ve been looking for a used 996tt with low miles for three months now. I have been through the debate of 996tt vs. 997s. I like the modern look and updated interior but favor the power in the turbo and rock solid engine platform. I’m more concerned in finding a low mile very well maintained car than finding features such as X50, etc… That being said, how does one value a low mileage car (15k miles) compared to one with 20-35k more miles? I’m seeing roughly a $10k differential on average for this range.
Thanks in advance for any feedback…

Personally, I wouldn't treat a car with 15K any different than a car with 20-30K. Facing a choice between them, I'd get the car that a) later production year, b) cheaper. Don't forget that these cars were continuously improved during the production years and therefore an older car will likely be less reliable even thought it might have less miles.
Additionally, I'd be very apprehensive about buying an older, say 01-02, car with very few miles. Cars need to be driven to maintain the best reliability. My personal opinion is that a car needs to be driven at least 3-5K year.
