Two blank buttons on rear center console

Two blank buttons on rear center console
Does anyone know what the two rear (blank - at least on my car) buttons on the rear center console are for?
The two front ones are obviously for the two side windows, but what about the rear ones, behind the flip-up ashtray? I don’t recall ever seeing those two buttons actually control anything in any of the Turbos I have seen in the past - or in picture.
…just trying to augment my own Turbo knowledgebase - as it were…

Asgor,
A good use of these blanks to install 996 targa roof switchs (the icon looks like a garage door) and connect them to a garage door openers. I did this years ago and find it a very useful and clean looking mod.

I like the idea of using these blanks for a garage remote, but how do you wire it? I have a liftmaster garage door opener with three buttons, one for left, one for right and one not used.

Joe,
You have to open up the garage remote control and find the two points that are connected when you depress the switch. Attach a wire from each of the two points and connect them to the switch. In effect, you are creating a remote switch. Run one door's two contact points to one switch and the other doors contact points to the other switch. It's a very simple process.

Yup, that's exactly how I did it...also jumped wires from the window switches so my new switch would light

Ah, sounds pretty straight forward. One last question so as not to reinvent the wheel, where to do stash the remnants of your garage door opener? I assume you want it somewhere you still have access to it for that eventual battery replacement Is that in the console storage box or ash tray or someplace else?

I wrapped mine in bubble wrap to eliminate noise and put them under the console - I think through the ashtray opening, but I forget exactly how I did it.
