YZ, we have never had a chance to compare that mix, but to take full advantage of the Y-pipe and 75mm throttle body, you should address the turbo inlet piping and intercoolers, as well. The gains from these mods have been documented on this forum.

When a kit like this is done complete, like winniGT2 just did, the turbos are able to breath easier, spool quicker and produce more air flow. Then after the turbo you require intercoolers with 2.5" openings to go along with the 2.5" Y-pipe kit. This eliminates all the OEM restriction "after" the turbo and provides a clean 2.5" path all the way to the throttle body. Basically, it enables the turbos to injest more air, quicker and deliver it faster and easier or more efficiently to the motor.

Are there any limitations as to what turbos you can use with the Ypipe? Meaning will K16 hybrids work just as well as K24 hybrids? Or is this system only needed for big turbo, big HP applications?

Larry,

So far, it has been used mainly on cars with upgraded turbos that flow more air. K16 variants such as K16/24, K16/16G and the new K16 billet turbos fall into this catagory. A flashed car with OEM K16's and our larger hi-flow intercoolers may see a little gain in spool or top end, but I am not certain as to the best of my knowledge, all of our kits have been installed on cars with larger than OEM K16 turbos and I have no experience with this kit on a K16 car.

Here's mine painted red to match the hoses.

If you consider the fact that this kit comes with the upper boost hoses, and that you can use the stock hoses from the turbos to the IC, one could argue that the hoses alone are a $700 to $1,000 value

I have back to back dynos, but added EVo ICs and the Y-Pipe with tune optimization. Different days, but same dyno. NO CHEATING, no correction factor, 91 Octane.

Before IC and Y-Pipe look at the blue line (red line file was to aggressive and bouncing off the knock sensor)

After ICs, Y-Pipe and Tune stock Throttle Body and Plenum. The car put down 70 more wheel HP than a 997 GT2. Probably a solid 650 crank HP.

Special thanks to my friends at GIAC and John @ Speedtech. Great products, great service, great guys and a fellow Porsche nuts.

Ari,

Well done - great results! Congrats on the power increase.

Thanks for the follow-up report. These kits are becoming more popular, I have a couple more going out next week.

Palette,

Yes, I am using it now. I went from the Protomotive fender style intake to this intake and I did not notice any difference in sound, except for the blow-off valve noise on release of the throttle.

As for power, we actually increased power over the former Proto set-up, but that was not the only change...I went back to the Bosch OEM MAF from the Ford MAF and then we did an EPL custom dyno tune.
