Speed Tech Intake Kit

I have it now complete, the Speed Tech Intake Kit

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ouncement.html

If I try to be not only a reader in this forum... Attached some pictures about my installation of the Speed Tech Intake Kit. Pictures if my english is still not the best.

First I had only the Y-Pipe with the OEM Hoses and OEM GT2 IC, but i complete the kit with the 2,5" path. And it was the right decision.

I installed the evo intake with lowered engine but it is a little tricky and not everyones.
Thanks for the support from John at Speed Tech with a outstanding service over more than 1000 of Miles.. (wish manufacturers like that was in germany)

After the installing I try my first tests...but I had only one day to test..after that snow and the end with 2wheel drive

After all result is:

Throttle responce is day and night better...now it respond like a GT3 and I could get boost without in gear if i hit the throttle...never seen this before on my car.

In gears and accelerate boost comes immediate`and dont flat out till 7000U/min. I don`t loose boost in high rpm as before was (plus 0,1 bar)

Quick boost responce and real more power.....It was worth the money and I am realy glad to do it.

Hope for dry weather and time for some testdrives.....to enjoy it

Again "Thank you" at the 6Speedmembers if you sharing your experience and knowledge in this Forum. (Think its the best Porsche Forum with great experience and a lot of Manufacturers wich support)

John, has anyone been able to do a back to back dyno with this system? It seems to address quite a few of the weak areas in the intake system!

I am not aware of a back to back dyno with this kit, but from a flow standpoint, it is equivilent to the 2 1/2" fenderwell intake system I had on my car previous to this kit. The turbo inlet tubes are just slightly longer in length, but much safer by design and placement, which I prefer.

All in all, it is a very nice option that provides superior flow, while keeping all the factory technology in place. From experience, I will say that this style of intake upgrade offers great performance, ease of maintenance and peace of mind.

Here is a picture of the black 75mm Y-Pipe we just finished today. One of the main advantages with these Y-Pipes is if you have a 75mm throttle body, it allows delivery of a full 75mm of air. With the OEM Y-Pipe a 75mm throttle body can not be fully utilized.

Be shure this intake causes no MAF problems......but for my understanding the maf problem has two reasons...One is the flow through (hope its the right word) the MAF...you need the waffle/ore mesh....and with this design you be one the safe side

The next point is if you range out the MAF Voltage...at this point you must redesign the MAF Housing and calibrate the ECU....

To clarify, can you just bolt this on without Maf problems or are there other mods that must be done with it? I'm just remembering all the MAF problems from the Evoms intake awhile back.

John, what say you?

Larry,

In short - There is no MAF problem with this kit. I have run it for 2 years now and I drive a lot in a year. It is located well after the MAF, however, it will allow the maf to process more air, so that is a valid question.

It's interesting you bring up the MAF issue. The reason I originally developed this intake was to solve a MAF problem for my own benefit. I had the fenderwell style intake with the Ford MAF and I did not like the way the car was running. We tried a lot of tuning with the Ford MAF and nothing was working, so we did some testing with the Bosch MAF and the car's characteristics returned to the type of drivability I desired. I now knew that I wanted to return to the Bosch MAF, but I did not want to give up the high flow system I was running. I previously had the EVOMS pipes and I capped them and left them in place in case I ever wanted to go back (I never thought I actually would).

After some thought, I envisioned a high flow system, equal in size to my fenderwell kit, but employing the OEM MAF, the EVOMS pipes and 2 1/2" plumbing from the intercoolers to the Y-pipe and a 75mm opening on the Y-pipe to the throttle body. I sourced the proper silicon hose bends to lead from the IC's to the Y-pipe, then designed and fabricated a y-pipe with 2 1/2" legs and a 75mm mouth. The end result was exactly what I had wanted to achieve - an unrestrictive, high flow, high HP intake system that retains the manners and smoothness of an OEM car. It works perfectly and has absolutely no MAF issues with my K24/18G car at 1.32 bar, with full supporting mods (60 Lb. injectors, dual 044 fuel pumps, IC's, enlarged turbo intake tubes, 2 1/2" post IC intake hoses, 75mm Y-Pipe, 75mm throttle body, 75mm IPD plenum, 1.32 bar tune)

I think this product is a good example of the saying "necessity is the mother of invention"...as it was in my case.

I have this setup and totally love it. There is no way you can get MAF issues with this setup if you're using a stock airbox.

With our exhaust, you can hear the turbos whistle and with the larger intake you can hear a little more air flow, but not much. If you are talking about the external vented divereter valves, then no - nothing like that...
our intake generates more of an enhanced OEM sound.
