Ordering Turbo "S" coupe is thicker steering wheel worth it

How about just having your stock wheel wrapped in an extra layer of leather? Probably pretty cheap, and the only disadvantage is that the diameter will be more than the factory 'thicker' wheel.

Lou... I think you're confusing thickness of the wheel vs. diameter of the wheel.
Thickness is referring to the girth (circumference) of the wheel, as in how thick it feels in your hands.
Diameter is referring to the diameter, as in how part your hands are apart when gripping opposite ends of the steering wheel.
The oem thicker wheel can't be 280mm in diameter... that would be ridiculously small... barely bigger than a typical steering wheel for computers and playstation.
OEM diameter from what KPV had posted is 362mm, and KPV's special order wheel is 320mm. Typical aftermarket wheel for our car is ~340mm in diameter.
So ideally, the oem steering wheel should have a greater circumference and smaller diameter... hope that helps.
