The actual value of a converted RTurbo 550
What do Porsche enthusiasts think of this car? Would you put much value to it, even though it's converted and does not have a RUF vin? The car does have authentic RUF papers, though. How much of a premium can one expect over the normal turbo in today's and tomorrow's prices? With many new tuners in the game, there are still loyal RUF fans out there and the options are tempting. 550 hp in today's terms seems lethargic, but there are some that believe the RUF car is tuned with fairy dust. For the $30k that is charged, it seems like a bit much. Would you think that adding non-RUF upgrades devalue it? Thoughts?

Is it a RUF kit installed by someone other than RUF Germany or Dallas ?
To me RUF has earned the reputation it deserves.
Their HP figures are to be relied on and not peaky. Torque curves are also part of the equation and RUF has its stuff together there as well.
I'd rather have a RUF550 kit than a "XXX" 700 HP kit.
What the value is is vague depending on miles on the kit, was it tracked, or abused on a daily basis, and so forth.
I believe from memory the 550 kit installed by RUF is about $30k.
IMO Low ball value with miles may be from 10k up.

It's completely subjective, but I might personally pay $5k to $7k more for a RUF 550 (even a VIN car) over a stock 996TT with the same miles/condition. But that's about it.

lot's of varied opinions on this issue from people revering ruf to those that think they're an outdated tuner. for sure those cars with a ruf vin are sought after and are worth their premium but their 10yr old 550 tuning package i don't think should add a premium. my feeling would be 5k at the most. in fact even ruf in dallas doesn't install these packages often. for half the amount of money they openly admit that they're able to install a better package that they get fvd to flash.

There's close to $40k RUF mods installed at RAC from a professional that flew in from Germany and papers to verify it. It does not have a RUF vin, but rather RUF upgrades. RUF's reputation speaks for itself, but there are cheaper options out there.

(Flying in TEN specialists from Germany doesn't make it more valuable.)
Look, maybe there is a collector that only wants "genetically pure German Mods" on their "german Porsche".. the value to them is really wide open.
RUFs reputation speak for itself, but many other tuners speak the same language!

Silver Surfer had his RUF VIN car modified by UMW and he was quite happy with the results. The car ended up being a lot faster after he got it back.

I was going to say the exact same Scott. On a non-RUF Vin car its maybe a $5K premium.
