Anyone out there road forced their wheels?

I put new tires on my TT & had a little vibration in the steering wheel & went to a shop that does road forcing & took the vibration right out. $80 well spent.

Yep - the shop I use has the:
Hunter GSP 9700 Road Force Measurement Wheel Balancer
The Hunter GSP 9700 simulates road conditions with a "load roller" that applies 750 pounds to the tire while it's rotating on the machine, and incorporates Wheel Force Variation to detect out-of-round tires and stiff spots on tires that cause vibration. Unlike machines found in most shops, that only address up-and-down balance, the GSP 9700 addresses
up-and-down AND side-to-side balance.

Road Force balancing (not actually done on the road) is basically just high speed balancing. I always get it and never have any vibrations.

Just like the previous posts, it matches the wheel/tire together perfectly.

RoadForce balancing is a must! We use it on every single wheel/tire we mount and balance.

The RoadForce maching uses a large roller that applies pressure to the tire, to simulate driving with weight. It's also able to detect imperfections in the tire if they exist. It's a must when balancing!

I put 4 new tires & had an alignment on my car & it drove like crap & was thinking something worse was wrong maybe with the suspension. Then during the roadforce it showed that the right front tire had a high spot & once we changed that one tire out & roadforced it everything is perfect now.

Hunter's website has a great explanation of it here.

The best part of the machines is that if your tire is out of round, especially laterally, it has the ability to tell you. It's all we use here as well, and it's usually the only machine that will tell you if a difficult tire can be balanced or not.

Same here, road force.

I actually bought new wheels and tires from Tirerack. If the road force shows an 'imbalance' they actually do a 'force match' in which they try and rotate the tire around the wheel so that the variation in the wheel and tire 'cancel'. I got three wheels to close to perfect, and one would not match even after 3 tries. Tirerack exchanged the one tire, no fees, no shipping, AND refunded me the cost of the bad roadforce.
