Exactly - but the new Z06 is sooo tempting. I was thinking maybe at my age (24) I could get away with not being associated with Guido, but I think I might look even weirder in a Vette.

As my friends and I say "It would be a sweet car, if it weren't a Vette."

Very nice car drove the c6 the other day. I liked the keyless thing and touch controls to open the doors however the 6speed feels like shifting a mack truck what a long throw. It's nice but still just a Vette

Alright, so you've pretty much summed up a stereotypical vette owner. Now, having been part of this site and, hopefully, participated in some events as a result of this site...How would you generally characterize the folks who drive our cars? Young? Middle-aged? Smart? Stupid? Adrenaline junkies? Eruditic? Fun? I could think of a few hundred adjectives. Sum it up in four.

Turbo owners are all over the spectrum , but few on THIS board seem to be long time ( 10-30 year ) Porsche-only enthusiasts . Most seem like younger guys working through their buy, mod and move- on phase , always with their eye on the next/latest " get's em wet " mobile, regardless of marque.

Man, I'm in the same boat exactly. I have looked at C5's several times in the past including the Z06, then went again to check out the C6. The dealer nearby has mirrors and I saw myself sitting in this C6 and thought.... "OMG... this car is so NOT you!"
When I see a vette, even though it's a damn good car, I can't get the stigma out of my head of, "Old, divorced, chain wearing, earing havin', hair-piece dude."
Not to mention just plain guido.
Amen Brother!

I need some clarification here: Does 'hair transplant' count?

maybe I'm an idiot but what's the bad stereotype of owning/driving a Ferrari - Bring it out only on the weekends in gorgeous weather so dad can drive his son or his little girl to go pick up lunch for the family?

that's my life - hopefully

this is what my dad did when growing up and those were some of the greatest times - even though mom would get mad when I'd say how fast we went. i even loved waking up saturday morning to the cars being fired up in case they hadn't been driven in a month or so

I think it depends on the quality of the job. If you can tell, probably it counts.

It more depends on why someone does these things. If it is motivated by pleasing oneself instead of impressing others, there's nothing pathetic or cheesy about it. The "My Vette Gets Them Wet" says it all when it comes to this guys motivations and organ size (figuratively of course).

Hit the nail on the head about the shifting. It stinks!!!
I have had a couple of Vetts and other sports cars but the C5 ZO6 just would not shift right for me. I missed the first to second gear shift a couple times in a row. This was the first time in years I had missed a gear. Just felt rubbery So I guess when I get my new C6 ZO6 it will be a slushbox.

If it wasn't for the phallically challenged in the world, there would be no need for Vettes.

There was this guy in an old beat up 930 at the dealer one day, the techs were all laughing behind his back as he only services the poor car once every 5 years. He had this license plate frame that read "You can't be first, but you can be next"
