Need opinions on replacement tires for 2001 Turbo.

hey gang,

Yes, age old Q - What tires to get???

Currently have Yokohama AVS sports 315/25/19, 235/25/19 on my 2001 996 Turbo.

Mostly weekend spirited driving, hardly any track use, no wet driving (I live in Vegas). Started noticing a bumpy feel in the rear on high speeds, took it in and found out rears almost gone.

Of course considering the Michelin PS2, also the Continental Conti 3s. Talked to some guys that said I should consider the Nitto Invo tires as well. Anyone running these on their car? what is your experience.

Thanks for the input! Gonna pull the trigger on one of these next week...

If you scroll down there is a good thread that should answer most of your questions. (I took the affordable supertire plunge).

Got the Sumitomo's a few hundred miles ago. Outstanding in all categories at 8/10th's pace or less. Especially when considering cost.

If your car is lowered, or you're running aggressive negative camber, you should really speak with the guys at Tirerack about the Michelin PS Rib. It's designed with a dual compound and wears well on aggressive suspension settings...

If you had a narrower tire, say 235/35 19 and 305/30 19- I'd go with the Bridgeston RE11 without hesitation.

What width are your wheels?

Here are a set of HREs with the sizes I mentioned above (sold, but for your reference for sizes)-

I have the PS2s on my 996TT,Z06 and my wifes MB. Best tires I've ever owned for the street. Talk to Pat at Discount Tire on Craig Road. He will give you a great price. Tell him Dave w/ the blue Z06 sent you.

The issue is that 996 owners need a 25 height.

I don't think the actual height matters, it is just that the height of both front and rear match.

Correct me if I am wrong...

I feel the same... Still not sure which way to go. The Sumitomos are not available in rear size so they are out.

Any other suggestions?? MUST be available in 315,25/19 size.
