125mph is indicating that his car does not have significantly more horsepower than a stock x-50 which comes through at 121mph. Clearly he has been practicing his launch and the fact that he has a Tiptronic is keeping his ET down, but why only 125mph?

Like I said, he trapped 123mph with 100 octane, Upsolute @ 1.1bar (~16psi) and straight pipes.
I believe that the ECU is the limiting factor, honestly.

Heya folks just to confirm that the rumor IS true I think we've got the first recorded 10 second pass at the drag strip for a 996 Turbo (The wife got great footage and I'll post the timeslip when I get back to work). It didn't look like it was going to happen yesterday (car had some issues again) but here's how it went down:
Track conditions were ****TY and they had to close one lane and only run one at a time since people were slippin'/sliddin'... Souped up Stangs and Camaro's with Drag Radials and even Mickey T's couldn't hook for **** They were doing anywhere from 1.8-2.1 60 foots. I got there really late and my first pass my car slid around like mad and I had to left off in first and second gear once. Pulled a wonderful 2.1 60 foot for an 11.7 @ 127. with 24PSI. Got pissed off and figured there was no point but I went once more. Not much better... 1.9 60 foot and an 11.3 @ 126. I was still only doing 24PSI and not the 29PSI I was looking for. First and second gear were feeling good and then mid-way through 3rd it would fall on its ***. Tuning I guess or somethin... I came around there were only 20minutes left before closing time and I said **** it. James (head tech at Akkurat) said, do one more just to see what's going on so I did. Tried a different launch (sat there for about 7 seconds) and the car lurched forward and I felt a slight punch in the back as the tires actually hooked and the car didn't bog. I looked over at the 60 foot counter and it said 1.6, I was like "Ok ****it this time it's going down". Suddenly at the end of 2nd gear the boost needle starts fluttering between 19-21psi (I don't know why or where it went) and I'm banging on the dash swearing like hell (woulda made for a great in-car video). I stay in it regardless thinking I've blown it with less boost. Pull around to try and get one more run and as I'm staging the guy points me forward and then sticks ten fingers up and gives me the thumbs up
I back up, run to the nearest potty and pee like mad!
Overall it was great to finally do it in this pseudo-road-race-finicky-*****-of-a-car
It makes me want to really try and get the car dialed in now and trapping in the mid 130s like it should someday. For now though, I'm really happy
To answer some very valid comments that came up: yes the car should and has trapped higher. It's got teething problems of some kind, could be either fuel system or even ECU related- at this point I just can't say. The car has trapped anywhere from 125-131 at the stip in recent week but now that the 10 is out of the way, I'll go chase that mid 135 trap speed next...
OK Todd/Mike I got 10s as promised and now you can just skip that and go for 9s. Same for you CJV....
PS Cheers RedC5 for making me realize it was close enough to try for

So does that mean that Sharky really does have the quickest 996 Turbo in the WORLD?
Get that video done and posted. Pretty cool that Joan was there to record the run.
You should be very proud. You've accomplished what no one esle has been able to.
