About to Order HRE Wheels
Hey guys, planning to put a order in for some new wheels. Im planning to order the HRE 593R's. F:19-8.5 with a 2 inch lip & R:19-11.5 with a 4 inch lip. For sure i want a brushed center look but i cant decide on the lip. High Polished or Chrome? Cant make up my mind. Anyone with any input? Thanks in advance.

High Polished, never liked the look of chrome on the 996 imo.

If the high polish is not clearcoated, it will start to haze over time and you will need to repolish them. In chrome, there isn't much to maintain... just clean and wipe. The only problem with chrome is that if its chipped/rashed, it can't be fixed and yu will need a new outer barrel. High polish can be fixed but it takes more to maintain

(Sprayed on clear coat will also cause leaks). I currently have Zones with chrome outers. I'm going in next week to the outers replaced with polished/clear coated. The lesson is never ever buy chromed wheels or wheels with chromed outers.

I have 890R with hidden hardware (inside the center). It is a real pain in the rear that I cannot pump air at gas stations, plus most chucks cannot fit thru the small opening. I believe 593R is also with hidden hardware. If I were you, I'd consider other models.
edited, btw, chrome lip really brings out the look of the wheels, and reflects the center of the wheel and bring out another dimension. IMO, it doesn't matter what the center is but the lip must be chrome.

I've had a few sets of HRE's on previous cars. When they're new and shiney, it's a great feeling. But somebody is eventually gonna curb those bad boys. And then ur gonna look at that blemish and not enjoy driving ur car as much. And even though u could probably get it fixed for a couple hundred bux, ur gonna get a new car. At least that's what happened to me the last few times.
