Review: EPL K16 Flash
#19
I also jumped on Tony's EPL flash special earlier this week. Cable and DVs came in this afternoon. Will probably upload the flash tommorow. Wondering if my wireless internet reaches where I park
Anyone know what the story with the car voltage is? I think I only get a little over 12V on the meter when the car is off.

^ If you've driven the car recently and the battery is healthy, it probably won't be an issue. I fell in this category and the gauge was a tad over 12 when I flashed it. No harm in hooking up a charger though if you're unsure.
You'll love the flash!
I'll be on the dyno tomorrow afternoon. Probably won't set any records since I'll be doing uncorrected pulls at 6000' but I'll put up the results when i have them.

I'm sure the flash will be great. Would have been trying it out on my favorite road as we speak, but got lazy about getting the software authorized early and I doubt the guys at EPL are nearly the insomniacs that I am (could be wrong about that though).
The flash that I am getting is the stage 2 flash I believe, as I've got a 70mm fabspeed exhaust + bmc drop in. Wonder what the difference in actual tuning is (if any).
Whatever you pull on the dyno, I'm sure you've got me beat because I have the slushtronic in my ride I have never seen stock/chip dyno graphs for the tip (probably because people are too embarrased to post them.. lol).

*If they live in the city, or have damage to an ankle that stops them from rowing their own boat. (I miss my stick.)

Out of curiosity, what kind of boost should I expect to see post-flash? Right now the car holds .6 bar mid range and .7 upper range, and I have seen a spike to .8 a couple of times. I ask because my mechanic will be changing the plugs, installing new diverters, etc fairly soon, and I want to make sure that everything is dialed in correctly. Wondering if the wastegates might need a slight adjustment. Thanks.

Earl it is great to hear you are happy with the Flash.
Let me know when your ready to do some Durametric log/runs. We can also compare your EPL flash to my Unknown Flash which also holds a 1.1bar.

2WD Dynojet numbers below. Note that SAE overcorrects turbo cars at high altitude (density altitude was around 6000' at the time of the runs). A more appropriate, turbo-esque correction factor would put it around 450rwhp -uncorrected was in the low 400s. Mods are the EPL flash & a relatively quiet Remus exhaust. The shop couldn't get a tach signal so they gave me the pulls for half price. I ran the math and...
2500rpm=46.5mph
3000=55.7
3500=65
4000=74.4
4500=83.7
5000=93.1
5500=102.3
6000=111.6
6500=121
It looks as if its missing a bit of low-end, it may just be the altitude but I'm going to give it another boost leak check just in case.
Comment from the dyno guy: "whoever tuned this knew what he was doing" This is one of the smoothest 996TT dynos I've seen -just look at that plateau of power!
BlueRanger,
Definitely! Once I knock out the leak check I'll give ya a ring -thanks man.
