Is there a setting in between off and blazing hot?

Should be 3 settings. off, blazing hot and then not so blazing hot. When you push it once, it should light up red (blazing hot). Push it again, it should light up yellow (not so blazing hot).

Ok now my driver's side heated seat won't work. I press the button and the light flashes on and quickly turns off on its own. Winter is approaching and although I'm in the south, it still gets chilly in ATL and I like a toasty bum every now and then.

The dealer says they have to order a part, and will take a couple hrs of labor to fix it. I was hoping it was just a fuse, but no such luck. Any idea what's going on?

I think I've had every common problem imaginable with this car... rear wing failure, slave/accumulator problems, this, convertible top issues. I'm just waiting for the 2nd gear pop-out issue to occur to add icing to the cake. I still love her though.

There is two fuse for the heating system, E3 (left seat) E4 (right seat) for the control unit and A6 for the heating system which is a 25 amps... If they are talking about ordering parts , I wonder which one ???? May be the relay, located under the seat part#996 618 521 00 (about $160.00).... How about switching the relay between the left seat and the right seat to see if it is the problem... I've never removed it but seems to be not too difficult....

That happend to my Driver Seat aswell 2 years ago. The Heating Element broke on the Back Part, my car was CPO then so it was replaced under Warranty... 99% sure you have the same Issue

And yes the Heating has 3 Modes. Off (No Light), Hot (Red Light) & Warm (Yellow Light)...

Good info from Zookie. He is mentioning the other part of the problem which is the heating elements. One in the back and one in the seat itself. Both are about $120.00 and I don't know how hard it is to replace. But it can be test for an open loop with a simple ohmmeter.

You are correct, my service advisor told me the Tech tested it by using a Ohmmeter... He also said to Replace the Back Element on Comfort Seat like mine the Tech just Pull Open up the Seat back Cover (Part# 2 in the Image above?) and Replaces the Element, Imagen Back Surgery... There was no Need to remove the Seat...

Once i get home i will Scan and post the Work Order...

porsche needs to make the heating setting more adjustable. on the lambo, it's a 7 setting, which really takes the cake.

yeah, that's one nice thing lambo benefitted from audi - working AC and luxury like bum heaters. i used to heated seats bc they get too hot in bmws and porsche. with 7 settings, you will find a perfect adjustment

Porsche has 3 settings:

1. OFF
2. I think it's on?
3. Holy Crap...how do you turn it off!!!

I keep my RS6 on 1...sometimes 1-1/2...and after a few minutes, I shut it off!!!

SAVED4IT is infamous around these parts
I posted a DIY on fixing the back seat heater element on Renntech. It's fairly easy but will be a day project to ensure you don't screw up. I seriously doubt it's the relay. I would start by taking out the back piece and testing the conductivity of the leads. Read:
