turbo transmission in 2WD mode?
As per title, few questions for those who have converted their car to 2WD by disconnecting the cardanshaft ( or whatever it's called... ).
1. How many miles since the conversion?
2. Any problems regarding the transmission?
Has anyone gone the hard way, ie. removing the front output completely from the transmission? It can be done with Motorsport parts, expensive though.

Not if you turn the PSM off........ Of course with it on, one rear wheel will constantly be freely spinning under cornering so you won't go very fast without interruption.
However that is not transmission failure, nor is ABS which can fail on AWD as well.
I do believe from personal experience that you will eat away your gears way faster, our open rear diffs were not designed to put power to only 2 wheels. But this is track stuff. I can't imagine anything being a problem on the street other than traction.

Yes it can, just takes some tricky wiring techniques. I know some people (shops) that have done it. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

My car has been on and off as a RWD (mostly RWD) for teh past 2 years or so.
It is not a full conversion in that it's only a cranshaft removal.
My latest round of mods have me considering AWD again. The car has No traction in 1st and 2nd and I think the AWD will help hook a lot beter.
