K24/20 vs K24/26
In USA they use k24/20,approx 680whp.European tuners use k24/26 ,600bhp(500whp).why this big difference in hps?
Which kit has less lag>
Thank you.

I don't know much about the turbos these guys are using, but I can tell you as a general rule, a turbo that makes more top end power will almost always have more lag. Ball bearing center sections and exotic materials can reduce lag, but the above general rule still applies with all thing being equal.

the first combi is k24/20g where k24 is the case(hot side) of the turbo while 20g is the intake (compressor side)impeller made from mitsubishi...european tuners use k24 same housing with k26 intake impeller...k26 is smaller in diameter than 20g...i think it is smaller than 18g impeller as well but cant recall...

You have to understund that there are two different brands,KKK and mitsubishi with the respective turbo sizes and types...So mitsu name impellers 16g,18g and 20g while kkk name them k16,k24 and k26...996TT has k16 turbo housing...996TTs or GT2 had k24 housings...in diameter k26 is smaller than 18g and 20g so a k24/26 turbo produces less power than k24/18g or 20g...these are callled hybrid turbos because they are not produced like that, they are modified by your tuner...

You are getting confused, K24/26 is an upgrade from a straight K24.
and it is smaller (FLOWS LESS AIR) than a K24/20g and the K24/18G (like I had).
K24/26 were popular in Europe 3-5 years ago. Now there are about
25 different turbos that bolt on that are better in every way.

We probably were the first ones to experiment with a 20g on a 996tt back in 2003. Bobby my partner developed them with Mike Blouch and used them on his 01 white turbo... Todd Knighton did the tuning...
With that said, that was a special 20g- not a simple 20g upgrade... the car still rocks hard till this day according to a happy client in Minnesota...
For what it costs to do its a great turbo... but you need better piping, cooling, and a good tune...
been there done that many moons ago...
A turbo alone, be it a 20g or a bigger 30r alone without proper components is useless...
good luck,
markski
