Funny Smell
Hi all,
I replaced my entire clutch in November - flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder, and etc. I drove it home and store it until yesterday. I went to move the car from one spot to another in the garage. There is a very strong, stinky smell coming from the car. I can't describe the smell! Does anyone know if starting a car after sitting for a few months give off a stinky smell. Could the smell coming from breaking in the clutch? The smell could also coming from me since I need a shower!
Thanks for reading,
TC

Could be all of the above. could be a slipping clutch, could be a dead mouse on the exhaust, could be oils and whatnot from the clutch job baking off, could be your armpits. Not enough info to tell but take a shower and see if that clears it - easiest of the three to fix. If it's oils on the exhaust or a mouse it ought to bake off - though the mouse might take longer. See smoke anywhere? What's it smell like? If it smells like smoking brakes it could be the clutch slipping - does it move okay?

The car move fine, no slippage or anything. The usual white smoke on the exhaust for 30 seconds. I think the smell is from the driver. Thanks BLKMGK! I was enjoy your posts and your mechanical knowledge.

I will check the coolant, thanks Steve! I did have the radiators replaced last September. The car is now on a 4-post lift with trays to catch any leaking liquids. If anything leaks, it will be easily spotted.

Little known fact - glycol coolant can burn if it gets hot enough! Leaking coolant on an exhaust manifold or something of the sort is NOT good. Hopefully that isn't the issue here but you're right it could be coolant or maybe even Pentosin - both of which could lead to big issues.

It's the power steering line that goes to the front, cab's are different from coupe's, have to drop engine and trans to change out, couldn't believe the hose line, about 6 feet long and more bends than a race track.. leak isn't to bad, 2 -3 dime sizes, taking it in tomorrow work permitting
