Alpha 28's vs Alpha 3071 or Tial 3071

Not to bad with the right setup, inlet pipes help a lot, keep it down a gear and rpm's up and look out, my problem is 2nd redlines in a matter of few seconds, turbos for me kick in @ 3400 but hold on

I have to try mine yet, but I think if you do supporting mods like intake pipes, A30's spooling should not be much different than K24's I guess. While A28s should spool significantly earlier.

Not looking to break any records here, just have a good all around car that will do well both on the road course, street and occasionally on the drag strip.

My results with the K24/18g lag issues,,,,,A good exhaust with 100 cell cats,,which catless would be better, took most of the lag out.It made a bigger difference going from 200 cell cats to 100 cell cats,,,,,,,,Then the bigger turbo inlet pipes did.....just my info

Yep..doing inlet piping, IC's and a Y pipe got me 500rpm of spool...

Can you expand on this? I saw the VE numbers for the A28 vs upgraded vtg turbos and the A28 was way more impressive. It looked like they had even better boost response than modded vtgs, which are no slouch. I'm most interested in zooming around (safely!) on the streets and highways and far less concerned with acceleration above 125mph so I'm thinking that the A28 is probably more "useable" than the 3071 or 3076. I'd appreciate any opinions from those that have experience with the A28 and 30 series.

Thanks, I was actually able to pick up a set of A28's from the classifieds a few months ago. haven't installed them yet, and I picked them over the 30xx mostly after seeing Tony's thread comparing them to the 18g's.

A28s are no slouch up top either provided they have adequate supporting mods. I ran 199.7 in the TX Mile which was faster than all the VTG and K24/18 based turbos that day. I even beat a few cars running GT30s. I believe the A28s have a higher peak flow than the 3071s but not the 3076s. A well sorted A28 car can be competative with most 20g and 3071s and with some GT3076 setups.

A28s have a boost threshold similar to K16s. Any K24 or GT30 is going to have more lag. In that VE thread it was shown that A28s ever hit earlier (and harder) than modded VTGs.

I don't mean any disrespect to the guys who have the 3071s. I think it is very hard to get good info on these turbos. I fell into the A28s quite by chance and the recommendation of a trusted tuner. Yes, I am still quite pleased with them.
