Ron,
I doubt your turbos have a K-16 hotside since they are in a Tial housing. However, the A28s apparently come in several flavors as well. I have not been able to find out any detail about this as most tuners are somewhat secretive about their individual variants. I have been told the A28s from Switzer, EVOMS, EPL, ect... are all different.

What boost ,fuel and tune have you ran with success.

Sounds good. Been running 1.2 bar now and experimenting with the Greddy boost controller settings on gain. Easy to adjust boost up or down, just learning what the other seetings are for. So far as the instructions tell, Increasing the gain will bring the boost in sooner. It works as described but I only have bumped it up another 10%. Want to run race gas and turn up higher, just reading and hearing what others are doing first. My recent tune loaded in last week definetly richened it up across the board, still perfectly smooth across the power band. (protomotive tune).
Let me know how you like the EPL tune once installed.

One of my colleagues has twin GT28's on a R33 GTR (apples to oranges here but...). He made close to 700whp and spool-up was fairly quick. That was on a 2.6ltr motor. I think GT28's on a 3.6ltr motor would spool very fast and make great power. I am not up to speed at all on the K16/GT28 hybrid so I'm no help there.

I have a very similar setup as you and am local.
I know for sure they are 2860RS and are watercooled, ball bearing... they are not alpha turbos but were purchased new directly from TIAL by my shop (speed gallery) around June 09.
I agree that there is LOTS of confusion as there have been many variations as well as sizes for those variations. One thing is for sure, most tuners seem to set these up at 1.2 bar for cali 91.
Here is the writeup I did when I modded my car https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...no-inside.html

If you bought in Sep 09', shouldn't it be Alpha28? At that time Alpha28 was already available? Flash68 & I got A28s around that time Aug-Oct 09'.

Sorry it was more like June (corrected above). I think you can still buy multiple versions to this day. Alpha was available but there was no info about it. Just rumors of a stainless housing turbos.

WHos car is that? I know most of the proto cars... are your turbos Gt28/K16 direct replacement? Or are they real gt28s...
Technology changes- I agree... but it doesn't mean it always works...
Certain turbos work well on specific cars... meanwhile on others they simply do not...
each tuner has his own way of doing things.. but boost for boost a 18g probably is in the same league as a real gt28. You probably have the 28s stuffed in a K16 housing.... thats what chokes up the car.... small hot housing....
good luck,
markski

a GT28 is a GT28 regardless of what housing it's in, the CHRA dictates whether it's real or not. with that said, our SS housing we put them in flow better than the standard cast T25 housings the 'real' GT28's come with

That was pretty funny. I always hear you guys talking about Ol Gregg, but never knew what the hell you were talking about.
