is 7.7 60-130 bad for my setup?

Hey I happen to love my slushmatic for daily and traffic driving okay! It does make me question what the performance difference would have been if I went with a K24/18g setup vs Tail 28s. Im actually tempted to fab up my own trans cooler and hook up gauges for the coolant and ATF fluid to ensure optimal running temps for both. Then upgrading to GT3071 set up although then some would argue that the k24/20g setup is just as good.

Just bustin brotha...don't get mad. It's been proven, at least on the dyno, that the Alphas spool quicker and seem to make as much, if not more power, as the 18g's. If Alphas were out when I bought my 18g's, I would have Alphas too. Unfortunately, no one with Alphas and a 6 speed has yet to post any numbers, so it's hard to tell. Did you just run the 7.7? What is the weather there? Did you have traction at all? Did you have PSM on or off? All of these things matter. While 7.7 is a very respectable number (12.2-12.4 is stock, as I recall?), it's likely you have better numbers in your car when the time is right. Ask Todd (vividracingtx), it took him a while to figure it out. While we (well...I) like to bust on the Tips, there IS a technique to driving them as far as TIMING the shifts right, if you are using the Tip function. Congrats on getting on the board in spectacular fashion.

The weather was about 30 degrees, traction wasnt the best for launching from the dig but it seemed fine from a roll. I had PSM off. I just got a new set of tires my front where a little worn so I had a little doubt that maybe when the car is sending power to the front tires its not grabbing enough. I plan on doing more runs later this week. I just sent Mike Bailey my files to look at and will see what he gets from them. The numbers I get are all over the place 7.7-8.8 just depends on the surface and where I launch it i see what you mean about timing dispite using the manual. I dont even use the manual mode since it seems useless, I will press the + button and the car will upshift on its own then once more. So I end up going from second to forth gear!
I would love to race a K24/18g Tip car from the dig to about 150ish to see the difference in performance with both cars at 1.3-1.4 bars. I wonder if they are really worth the extra $$$.

Send your files to me too if you don't mind. Todd@vividracing.com

Vince,
get a pressure test done... from the turbos.... make sure your car is sound....
datalog as well... what afrs are you running on boost....
You can run( if you have not yet) Vinod your good friend... he has a 6 speed with 18gs and EPL tune... this will be a good test .. I know he is running only 1.2 bar but this will give you a good starting point...
You should beat him if your at 1.4 bar... if not something is not right... that is just my opinion....

Tony,
don't get offended, I wanted to get your TCU upgrade if you had it. For some reason I am only trapping about 126-128ish. I really feel that has to do with the way my car is shifting. I wanted you to get me a tcu upgrade and a retune. If you don't have it available I can puchase a TCU upgrade from another vendor and pay to have the car dyno tuned at AMS.
Vivid my car shifts almost the same way.

Im far from offended, its just you always assume your car is slower then it should be.
You were at the track last summer and trapped 130 ish, your car is making more power now then it did then ....
What makes you think its only trapping 126-128? Vbox 1/4 runs on cold, sandy roads??

Not taking shots ... just saying.
Tial has sold maybe 30 sets of a28s. There are (wild guess) 300+ 24/18g cars running in the US.
Of course there would be more documented cases of k24/18gs performing better then a28s.

I'm kind of curious as well. (I also bought Alpha28s 2 months ago. after many threads praise how well it capable of. Tialsport even quoted its flow is more than 3071.) Why the performance is not way better than K18G/k24? Is it all it got without more supporting mod? Vince, are you sure you sort out all problems?

Except Mbaily, I think Swizter has it in Sp800 kit also. No idea if it further mods inside of A28s.
