997 SSK WoW!!!

Definitely would be interested to hear from anyone thats got the 2010 GT3 shifter.... I have the 997ssk and whilst its a vast improvement from the regular 996 item, its actually not that short a throw, certainly not compared to a b&m and in mine at least sometimes is a little vague shifting 2nd to 3rd.

I drove 2 cars with B&M short shift kits and one slightly smoother than the other but notchy feeling on both. The 996 TT I have now recently had the 997 ssk installed and as soon as I test drove it, I could not belive how smooth and precise the gear changes were. Sold on the 997 version over others.

I agree with Mike.
I had my car in for transmission repair for 2nd gear pop out
I told the SA i wanted the 997 shifter, and he wrote it up as
the 997 SSK and i told him i wanted the 997 he said to give it a try
for a few weeks. If i did not like it, he will switch it out for free.
Loved it, had it like this for 10 months now!

Thanks for the review, Mike. I have the B&M and you have answered all the questions I had concerning the 997 SSK. My research of this part is over!

Mike, do you know if this unit can be raised from the bodywork? (no centre console installed)... the seating position in the P-car is not that great and find myself slightly stretching for a clean change... would like to try the shifter but not if it is lower down.

Agree on the engine and tranny mounts... I have reasonably new cables (stock not cup), fresh box & diff oil, the X73 mounts, and am this weekend getting the 7turbo tranny mount installed. Am hoping the tranny mount helps reduce any vagueness.
I think ultimately I was always hoping for the shift to be gt3 precise... but given its a different gearbox, I think theres only so much one can do !

Mikelly,
Thanks for taking the time to post your comments and mini-review (particularly useful due to your experience with other short shifter options on the 996TT. As you know, I have one of these sitting at home and now I'm going to patiently wait for your DIY before tackling this job. I appreciate it!
