NJ/PA Meet Recap with lots of pics!!
Well, the dust has settled and the rains have subsided and where are we left? We have made some new friends, enjoyed some really fun driving on some really great roads and had the chance to admire some very fine automotive machinery.
Estimated cost….approximately $1,600,000 worth of German machinery assembled for all of us to enjoy both the beauty and performance. That was someone else’s estimate so until it is corroborated, I will just let it stand. What was the other statistic? Oh yes, approximately 7,000 horsepower. Phew! It is my belief that every last one of those ponies stomped on the grounds we traveled today!
The weather held out for us all day. It didn’t rain on us even once. I guess we did our own kind of rain dance! So, as it was………………………..
We assembled at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Phillipsburg at 8:00am. Turbo after turbo kept arriving minute by minute. It was great. As we introduced ourselves, the bewitching hour approached. I gave the group two words of wisdom. First, watch your speed on the short first stretch of Route 78 and, second, watch the turns on the back roads since the roads are very slippery. I traveled part of the route in reverse to get to the start to make sure there weren’t any surprises.
8:30am sharp we departed DD on our first leg of the journey. Well, that was when the first words of wisdom were completely and utterly ignored. The next thing I knew I was drawn into the fray. I was told later that we hit 150mph but that was not my recollection. Who am I to argue?
After turning off at our exit the really fun stuff began. The road was very windy with a few hairpins. That was when the second words of wisdom were ignored. I was told, via radio, that a certain Boxster, did a complete 180. Oh boy, this is off to a roaring good start!!!
After some very twisty back roads, we finally came to my favorite part of the trip, good ol’ Route 412. Perfect pavement, perfect corner radiuses, and perfect cars for it. I just love that part!
A short stint up Route 563 to Lake Nockamixon and we arrived at the Marina. We waited there for about an hour, waiting, and waiting, and waiting, AND waiting for the PES Tuning guys to show up (Just kidding guys!!). Well, it was definitely worth the wait because, in typical Tony Ricci fashion, in they came in a grand entrance driving the most beautiful full TechArt Stage 5 car!! I have seen this car before but I always drool when I see it. It is simply incredible. This was soon after BuddyG arrived in his recently assembled Stage 5 car. Stage 5 is proliferating guys, watch out!
Colin pulled out one of their new wheels to show me (us). All I can say is L I G H T !!!! I could not believe how light this wheel is, and beautiful! From what I understand, Tony actually designed it and had it forged by a specialty wheel company (Tony, feel free to help me out here).
We hung for a while and took a series of photos, of which you will find below. I hope you like them. By the way, if anyone has any from Dunkin’ Donuts, I would like a copy.
After departing the lake, we followed the really windy access road to the main drag and found a police car waiting for us on the side of the road. He followed us for a while to see if we were up to no good. No tickets!!
This is where it gets interesting. After meandering down the other side of the lake, the route took us through some really squirrelly stuff. Geigel Hill Road. Those words will forever spark a twitch in Maxiter’s eye for it was where the PA DOT uses magnetized guardrails and nobody told him. Apparently, he got a little too close to one of them and it reeled in his 993TT. It happens to the best of us Mark. We are all glad you and your wife are OK. It can be fixed and all will be well again soon.
A few more twists and turns, a little bit of air (a least by me and Buddy), a covered bridge and we were finally traveling down Route 32 towards New Hope.
Upon arriving in New Hope, you couldn’t help noticing the shoppers turning to see what the noise was. Yup, that would be our 6 cylinder boxer engines of course. We pulled into the Triumph Brewery’s parking lot and into our designated spaces (Kudos Triumph!!) and went in for lunch.
The lunch conversations were great with some really great people. I enjoyed talking to all of you very much. The lunch was a fabulous buffet with really great food.
PES Tuning picked up our lunch tab. Wow, what a great end to a great day. Again, thank you Tony Ricci and Colin Miller!! You guys are the best!!
This was the third meet I was involved with in this area and it had, by far, the best turnout yet. That is surprising considering the weather. All of the cars looked beautiful.
I hope you guys are interested in doing this again soon. I have some other areas in mind……………….

Ken:
Excellent Recap! I would say that the pictures came out great, but for some reason, I cant view them?
In any event, thanks for organizing such a great event.
To all who attended:
It was nice to finally match a face with a screen name...let alone meet an awesome group of porsche enthusiasts!
The only thing that I am going to regret from attending this meet, is that I am now going to spend more money on new upgrades!
Special thanks to PES for the great lunch and information!
Cant wait until the next event! Maybe I'll have some new goodies by then!

Gentlemen.....Nigel and I had an awesome time. Only regret was Maxiter's incident. Ken....kudos to you for orchestrating the event....your route selection was brilliant. I look forward to the next time we get together...perhaps we should consider doing a caravan to Long Island to the Huntington Concours event in a few weeks (see Detailer 708's recent post).

Ken,
It is great to see all of you get together.... You guy's make me wish I still lived in NY so I could join you. Although I'm sure my wallet would be lighter after seeing all the mods and getting new ideas...
Great turn out.... Sounds like you all had a blast...
We had a drive with our Local PCA about 6 months ago where a driver in a C2 missed a turn on the route and decided to pull a quick u turn, the C2 following behind him T-boned him... was uglier than your mishap.. Glad no one was hurt and it goes to show you always have to respect these wonderful machines...

Thanks to all of the Porsche owners that showed up we had a great time and it was really nice to see people actually DRIVING there cars the way they were designed to be driven!!!! Kudos to maxiter for getting out there with that 993 and mixing it up. Those damn penndot magnetic guardrails are a *****. Well at least there were only fenders/quarter panels that got bruised and not poeple..... Great time guys we had fun!!!!!!

Hey Guys,
I am unhappy that some you cannot see the pictures. Sometimes if you right click on the picture and then click "Show Picture" it will solve the problem. They are great pics and I encourage all of you to try again, they are worth seeing.
Tony,
Great to meet you!
Pritam,
Great to meet you as well and thanks for the additional pics.
03C4S,

Parker,
Too far!!! Your in Red Bank, right? Come on! David came from Westchester County NY and Billy came from Fort Lee. We will look for you next time!
Billy,

Endra,
Eat your heart out!! Just kidding!
John,
If we had a meet in Connecticut, would you come?
Sean,
Huntington Concours, here we come!! Keep me in the loop with that as well as any other Porsche things you are up to. We can be the RUF/GIAC contingent. I know I said it before, but, great kid!
Gary,
I thought you guys do these kind of meets in FL all the time? T-Bone....ouch!
Colin, Tony (PES),
Again, thanks so much for the lunch and education on all things Porsche.
Accomplice,
RUF to answer your question. That is Sean's car. He had a European delivery and brought the car right over to RUF. Very cool!!
