Crooked Spoiler - Self Fix?

After a lengthily stay in storage last year my rear spoiler had the dreaded crooked lift. The passenger side lagged the drivers side upon deployment and never fully lifted, stopping about 1 1/2 inches lower than the drivers side & throwing the fault code. I read the numerous 6 speed posts covering a variety of possible causes and resigned myself to repair project this spring. I then put the car back in storage until today (3months). Just for grins I decided to raise the spoiler before covering the car. Well today it worked perfectly. I did not have a visible leak however I think there must have been some sort of an internal hydraulic leak down. I realize this could be a short term fix but I'll go with it for now.

Try WD-40 on the rams when the spoiler is up. That may be all that is needed.

Tried lubing the rams but it didn't help.

I've found 4 good posts on spoiler problems. Each one has identified a somewhat different take on the problem. As of now I'm going to keep it in the up position when it's parked and hope for the best.

Is it recommended to keep the spoiler in the up position when put in storage? My car sits from August to June (poor thing)!!

The only thing holding it up is hydraulic pressure. If you cut the lines, it'd come down fast, as the ram springs are impressive.
I'd leave it down for storage rather than leave it up under high pressure for months which could promote a leak?

Do not leave it up for extended time periods unless you just got new rams installed. It promotes premature failure.

I'm not advocating storing in the up position nor have I any knowledge of Porsche's position. I am pretty sure in my case it has helped to correct the problem. Just a FYI, for what it's worth.

I topped my fluid off and now they work like a charm. It does take some time to remove the rams and pump and to do the needed filling. When you are topping off the fluid in the pump be sure to lower the rams all the way.
