Or very long nails made it difficult to type the right numbers, and also who cares about if the numbers are correct anyway...??
you know i forgot to mention that same thing almost happened to me as well. I put odometer reading as 14,030mi on the title transfer application. The employee took the paperwork and did the work on the computer and printed one for me to go over before he could finalize it. The odometer reading was showing as 40,030mi! I don't know if he was reading it in his head and somehow fourteen turned into forty or his fingers just have their own wicked way of screwing up people but i'm glad i caught that there and then.

Wow, good catch. That could have really screwed up the carfax history of your car.

Just wanted to say thanks and give guys another similar story.
Bought my car last year, for a really good deal from a 6speed member.

So comes my registration in mail for $1152 for this year, I am like holy $rap...
till I see this post, so I do the exact same thing. Make an online appointment.
Stay in line not for 15 but 45 minutes, see a lady and she is like hummm i have
no idea, so she enters the info and says your car is being valuated at 105K.

I am like, cool, I will sell it to you at half that price, and she is kind enough to
break a smile. She calls her super and boom, she is like do you have bill of sale?
No mam, I do not with me, she proceeds to write the value of the car at $40K.
I end up paying $502 in registration. I know that is 10 times what I paid in NY
but hey it is a lot better than the $1152.

Thanks again for the post, I would have never challenged this on my own.
