I think the key here is now the tip box. And there must be a resolution to this because other cars run tip (Brabus) with similar (upgraded MB transmissions).
The deal with 9ff, with a guaranteed warrenty, gives me some reassurance that I could run up to 800hp without issues. So I am going to arrange that, and then I can give a full report on that upgrade. I am also talking to a UK gearbox specialist about putting in 2 additional clutch packs in both sections of the gearbox. I think one has 8 and the other has 10 in it. From my understanding, what they do is put 10 in the first bank and 12 in the second. They are slighter thinner.
The main issue is that I don't want to spend 4k USD that won't work, against spending 7k USD that comes with a guarantee and 9ff make good cars as everyone knows.
We'll run the car this week with the additional tranny cooler and see what happens. It might be that I had the EBC set up with the start boost too high. I am on vacation in Portugal on the last day of the month for 15 days, so that would be a good time to get the gearbox done. So I need to arrange for that early this coming week.
Will keep you updated

why dont you get a program upgrade for your tip...
keep the gain on EBC at lowest number possible...

Markski, I would if they would send it to me first (the control unit) and then I could send the donor back. That is the pain because it means the car is off the road. Just annoying that there is no way to flash this control unit remotely e.g. so that I can do it.

Just to update you car is running well. Only issue is the gearbox.
So that and the TCU is off next week to MKB in Germany for their upgrade. From chatting with another member as well who has had this done, it resolves the issue. We will find out in a couple of weeks.
Will update after that.

Finally, today (fingers crossed) I get the car back. It has been nearly 3 months without it, and the new gearbox from MKB was installed yesterday. Cannot wait to get my hands on her...just hope it doesn't rain!

Well the wait is over at last and I have had the car for 4 days now.
Was it worth it? Definitely. There is no doubt in my mind that I made the right choice with the set up and the 20g are just great.
I have run the car up to 1.4bar at the moment, without any gain, or set boost. A mixture of results, since I have the new upgraded gearbox in from MKB (I am not too keen on busting it too hard at the moment).
Tiptronic times
1st - 2nd 0-60 3.6 secs.
2nd gear start 0-100 6.6 secs (okay I did brake boost that one!)
2nd gear start 1/4mile (not at a drag strip) trapped 129.6mph @ 12.6 secs - well there was a lot of gravel to start with, and my 0-30 was 3 seconds!
2-3 gear 60-100 3.12 best to date
So I presume if I do a proper 1/4 mile that I should probably get in the 10s? at 135 or so?
Couple of questions
1) For those that have done 60-130 in less than 7 seconds, do you have a graph (or point me in the right direction) that shows what the time was for the 60-100 part.
2) What speed did you start with?
3) If you have a tiptronic, what has been your experience in terms of the best way to get these times (Do you always use D or M).
4) When you do your times, do you switch PSM off? Does that make a difference in times?
So am I happy, totally!

No seriously a big thanks to Mark and Todd K for helping me with the choice. Being in the UK, it took me quite some time to decide, and of course I had to listen to all the doubters over here saying the stuff wouldn't work and I should go German. Okay I went German for the tiptronic upgrade, but since it is an MB box, I think that is fair enough.
I hope that others in the UK will follow the lead and not be so anti re the tuning.
Hope to have the car featured in one of the leading Porsche Mags in the UK, so just got to work on the set up to optimise that, but Todd K certainely knows what he is doing.
Mark, just a personal thanks for all the unpaid time you put in to help make this happen - really appreciate that.
