Pentosin leaking out of steering reservoir

When I was at the track I noticed Pentosin was coming out the small valve on the steering reservoir that has the green tag around it, it just seems to happen at the track not on the street. I change the steering reservoir and the clutch accumulator less than a year ago.

I took the car to my indy shop and they said the clutch accumulator was bad and was causing this to happen so I gave them the go ahead to change it. Picked up the car when they were finished and went to the track the next day and the same problem occurred, pentosin was pushing out the steering reservoir. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this.

Faulty Clutch slave usually causes the pentosin to overflow the Clutch reservoir so, maybe as its overflowing the power steering reservoir end it could be the slave is also directly connected to that problem. Usually when the accumulator is changed the slave is also done as they are both interconnected with the power steering pentosin fluid. They recently did my accumulator due to overflowing clutch res but that still didnt fix the problem so, since changing out the slave cyl it fixed it (for now) . Porsche should know this anyway.

Like speed21 was mentioning normally steering fluid is overflowing towards the clutch reservoir because the slave is at fault. Never saw your problem before but there is a TSB 4897 for the steering system but it is normally associated with high pitch noise coming from a vibrating pressure control valve in the steering reservoir. And a second TSB A307 associated with a bad threaded connection on the pressure hose system of the power steering... IMHO your mechanic did a poor trouble shooting. First did you check the clutch reservoir to see the level. Was it low? Second did you look at your steering reservoir, Was it low ? If your clutch reservoir level was normal than you don't have migration of fluid and your problem is strictly in the power steering system. Hope this help... Remember to be careful with Pentosin leak on a hot surface....

I personally wouldn't drive your car until this is completely fixed. You don't want a car-B-que.

intermix from pentosin front to back or vice-versa is the slave.

I checked the invoice and they only changed the clutch accumulator, they did not change the slave.

He spent 20 minutes explaining to me how the accumulator can cause this....looks like he was wrong on this one.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, can you give me more details.

I'd bet money they over-filled the powersteering reservoir. It "could" be the slave (and this is why I N-E-V-E-R would do one without doing the other) but this is a very easy check before you send it back to them.

When I did a search checking the power steering level came up, so I checked it and it looks fine. This seems to only happen at the track, I never noticed any leaking from the steering reservoir during street use. The shop that worked on the car doesn't seem to think it's a big deal and told me to keep driving the car to see if this keeps happening, given the nature of pentosin I think I'm going to pass on this advice. Would checking the slave be something I can do?

Pics would be great if you can find them.

Can heat build up at the track cause the pentison to expand and push out the steering reservoir, or is this not possible.

I was thinking the same thing but more "fluid boiling" because your fluid is getting old... I am only speculating here....

Wait, your mechanic doesn't think a Pentosin leak is a big deal?

OCTurbo is infamous around these parts
as above- bad clutch slave. make sure that it's a 2008 or newer slave that you replace it with, because there were faulty slaves before that.
