Hi Tony that would be excellent but it must be same bolts on,same boost, same gas. Please we need to know that with accurate info.

Thanks

Eric I know in my case removing the engine was not necessary but it is not a 2 hour labor job and then you are likely to need some replacement parts as well on top of your $5K kit (or 4.5k) with your retrospective turbo exchange.

Richard, they told you they had to pull the motor to install your turbos ? bro i take it they had a lift , thats all that would be needed ,the turbos and everything is right there.

never heard of anyone dropping the motor for turbos installs .

From seeing the info I think the Ams turbos are superior to those of what has been on the market for the last 5 years... those were only K24 compressor wheels (cold side) stuffed in a K16 housing... the hotside stayed the same. I know the wheels they are using... it is a good set up....
But just for kicks here is a k24 turbine wheel/hot side and a K16 turbine wheel/hotside.
I do not think there is any doubt that a proper hybrid K24 turbo will take over where most K16 hybrids leave off... and Im not referring to any particular hybrid just talking out loud...

For a k16 guy looking to price out the whole kit I should also be factoring in a clutch swap at the same time right - or wait for the stock to give a little? Not in the market now, but making my wishlist

Good to see Tony@epl alive and breathing...

Anyways, how would these compair to the Tail GT28's that I was told to be far more superior then those K24/18g's? How much air are these things pushing?

Eric /Chris, I will be coming to your shop to have my car retuned on the 18th. If you dont mind I would love to check out your K16 hybrid car. You guys have always given me great service and support and have built some wicked cars, Im looking forward to seeing this car in person.

thumbs up!

Vince

yes... how do they compare? I've upgraded my clutch and about to do the turbos. Thanks in advance!

too many variables to really find the difference... but if Tony has some dynos he can overlap with similar set ups then that might be a starting point...
18gs do put down 550rwhp at 1.3 bar... if not more.. thats with basic mods like exhaust, filter, dvs... 5 bar... and they carry usually pretty good on top...
but do not have the TQ down low... bottom line, hard to get it all in one turbo... its always a trade off... some hybrids peak big numbers and die early meanwhile other hybrids sacrifice some rpms for more top end..

I understand the trade-off but would love to see all three laid over each other on a dyno graph.

At these power levels with the upgraded injectors, the stock clutch will not hold. If you were to run these turbos at the 540-575 ft lbs range, the stock clutch should hold, but for how long would depend on driving style.

I can't see the clutch lasting long enough to not do it while the car is apart, mine lasted 3 minutes, maybe someone else might have better luck on their stocker for some reason but the time you'll get out of it isn't substantial enough to wait to do it when it goes, do one at the same time
