Scott so Todd modified the stock manifold to use with external wastegates?

I also had stock (but modifed) cams and stock (but modified) heads.

With your set up you would be better off spending your money elsewhere. In addition, if the headers are designed correctly just putting them on will lean your motor. Which means you need to add fuel to benefit from the header install.

Here are the headers we are using on a 4.4L 996tt.

All the answers in this thread seem to be focused on the power and there seems to be a very clear answer on it.
But what if the goal is to focus on reducing lag and better throttle response?
Will aftermarket headers be of an advantage in this case?
And what about thermal coating to the hot side of the turbo and the headers? anyone done that before?

Hmm .. I had asked tod about doing the same thing back in the day and he advised me against it and just to do headers .

It's easier and cheaper alter stock headers.
I do not recommend it on high hp cars.
I actually went with a custom v band version on my own car and Todd (currently is tuning my car) said the car is super responsive for a hta35r turbo.
We will know more soon after the dyno tuning is done.

I alsolnow that cutting into that cast
manifold and welding on flanges for the externals is a big pain !!
