18's to 19's and back help

I am looking at a set of 19" rims for my TT. I know some of you here have gone to 19's and back again and I am wondering why. The rims, Avus, are from a fellow 6speeder who had them on a 993 turbo. They are 19 x 8.5 f and 19 x 11 r with Conti's 225/35/19 and 305/25/19. What offset do I need for these rims to fit properly?

Also if I do not change my suspension (stock) will I see a big difference in ride height look? I will not change suspension as I will most likely go back to a coupe in a year or so. I do want the car to look good with the rims though. Any help greatly appreciated.

I haven't had 19's on my car, but it seems that those who have all say the same thing:

If you want looks, go with 19's. If you want performance, stick with the 18's.

Apparently, there is a noticeable decrease in the performance of the vehicle when you put 19's on. Like I said, I don't have 1st hand experience with this, but that seems to be the reason.

I don't know if this would only be evident at the track or in daily use though.
