Rip Off by Mercury extend Warranty

I would like to share this so your guys watch out for these crook co. and avoid loosing your value money. I bought a 996tt from a seller who original bought MERCURY 7y and 75,000m extend warranty. It looked trustworthy and worth $3,000 so I valued that in purchase price.
In booklet, it says all pretty much cover and Transferable Coverage. I was pretty comfortable.
Recently alternator just broke so I tried to claimed. MERCURY brought excuse and said warranty was not trf within 15 days and go to valueless. (all booklet and paper said nothing!)

All of these warrantee companies have a certain number of days after sale that the policy has to be transferred onto the new owners name. At the end of your contract there is a transfer form that needs to get filled out by the seller and the buyer at the time of sale and gets sent/faxed to them.

How long ago did you purchase your car?

3mos. There was no single words in warrantee or any form states that need to transfer in 15 days. Both seller and I got no idea.

To me. I think Mercury crooks and uses tactic to avoid paying. It got upfront $3K fee to insure repair cost of car to certain year and certain milage. What diff is change of owner when car is used under same cond.

I found this in a sample Mercury contract on pages 5 and 6. If your contract does not have these points then you can fiight them. If it does and you and the original owner did not know or overlooked them - then you can't really fight them.

What you can do is try to call them or go to one of their dealers and say that you just bought the car within the past 15 days. Get a hold of the owner and draw up a new bill of sale dated two days ago, since bill of sale is the only thing that is required to transfer the policy onto your name. They will not ask for registration or anything like that. If I were you I would try that as there is a chance it will fly.....since they can not prove when you bought the car.

6.
Transfer: This Policy is solely for Your benefit; however, if You sell Your Vehicle to another individual, the remaining coverage
under this Policy can be transferred one time to the new owner prior to the Policy expiration date, provided that:
A. All the original manufacturer’s warranties are also transferred to the new owner;
B. Your Vehicle has not been sold or traded to or through an automobile dealer, auto broker, auto auction or financial

institution.
PAGE 6 6100.PLATINUM (06/07)
C. You provide the new owner all Maintenance Records confirming that Your Vehicle has had all required maintenance
and servicing. Both You and the new owner are responsible for ensuring that all Maintenance Records for Your Vehicle
are available for review in case of a Mechanical Breakdown.
D. You complete the Transfer Request Form and mail it to Us within fifteen (15) days of a change of ownership, to the
address listed below. Be sure to include:
i) a certified odometer statement for Your Vehicle, and
ii) a $50.00 transfer fee.

Thanks for info.
-It is 1 page contract and a booklet. Not any word mentioned it.
-Will Carfax or registration contrast when they search?

no doubt man - i'm just trying to help. there def has to be more then one page to the contract - one page is probably the description. i have seen quiet a handful of these warranty contracts including Mercury, Chrysler and others and they all have transfer clauses, it's just the nature of the beast.

they will not run carfax, they do not search. it's not their job to investigate. it's their job to take the bill of sale, look at the date, charge you 50 bucks for transfer and transfer the policy onto your name.

at this point you have nothing to lose. if it works, there is a strong chance it may - great. if it doesn't - you are in the same place you started, so no harm in trying.
