HELP! Used 996tt w/ warranty, worth it?

X-50s are available in tip but it is not the greatest combination because the larger K24 turbos take more RPMs to get rolling and it is easier to get those rpms up with a 6-speed. That being said, since I have re-flashed it the thing is scary fast. When that big turbo does kick in you better be hanging on.
So anyway, I got the x-50 but did not realize the dilemma until after I got it. The regular TTs will spool up faster and are better suited for the tip.

Is black your only color. Here is a link I often used when looking for cars that searches all of the major sites from one search criteria. http://www.hankshelper.com/

Ya, it's gotta be black. One day, I'll start venturing into other colors, but for now, I'm a black car guy. I'd be good with Tungsten on a Aston Martin, or Red in a Ferrari, but generally, I'd prefer black always.

For years I have only had white cars. Cooler in the Texas summers, easier to keep clean... But these have always been trucks and sedans. When I went for a car that was going to be MINE and not necessarily shared with my family (as in 2 seaters - which the 911 sort of is if you are realistic) I went black. First was my SL63AMG and now my 996TT. And since then I have heard that black cars are actually faster. Thats what I heard anyway

OP - How about this one? No affiliation to seller but it's Black and a Tip.
http://lrhoffman.billjacobsinventory...ra--c-1039.htm
It was traded in by a Rennlist member and they gave him $42K so you have a lot of room to work a deal.

Maybe you can contact the seller thru Rennlist.

Your post is EXTREMELY helpful though, I really appreciate it and will think about how to use this info in my current negotiations as well as potentially looking at this car to buy. I'd assume that dealer would want at least ~$46-$47k (but still may not take under $48k since its so fresh on the lot), and considering it has five prior owners, but is a year newer and same miles, it's probably equivalent value to me paying $48k with solid warranty lasting 2.2 years. I'll keep you updated, I plan to call the dealer I'm currently in negotiations with tomorrow or wednesday, and really am just waiting for him to send me the copy of the actual warranty before getting back into price negotations.
Much thanks.

First of all, you need to read the DME computer (we say piwis) that give you some notes about the engine, you have 2 stages.
If the porsche center give you the oficial warranty, keep the reading that I tell you, to future problems.
Now, I have a problem with official porsche warranty because to don´t have that notes. Of course when you pay the inspection and warranty nobody gives you that reading.
If you have any upgrades that it isn´t OEM parts or porsche equipment they can say that the warranty is over, be carefully.

A deal has been struck. Listing was $54.9k with warranty, we settled on $49.5k with 2 year and 3 month comprehensive warranty for an 02 black 996tt triptronic with 28.8k miles. My offer was $48k firm with warranty, but I could not quite get them there, and $1500 difference for the car/configuration I really want that is relatively close to me was not worth moving on over. As I said, black, low mile, triptronic really narrowed my available market. I did push this as hard as possible and we've been negotiating for over two weeks, but I could not get him to go below $49.5k with warranty. My last effort was to get him to waive the $300 dealer doc fee and let me put $3k on a credit card for some cashback (that's the most his machine can take, at least he claims). Still, I'm very happy with the deal, and I'm sure the opportunity cost of my time searching/waiting/looking for a comparable car would have cost me much more than $1.5k.
Next step is to take it to get PPI and compression test. A performance Porsche shop quoted me $120 for PPI and $180 for compression, and offered to just drop in new plugs during the compression test for parts pricing only (how much are new plugs?). After that, I think with the PPI check results and plugs, I can do the rest (fluids basically) of the 30k service myself. The performance shop told me thier normal price for 30k turbo service (including plugs which is the biggest part) was about $740, which is very reasonable from what I'm reading. I plan to call the local Porsche dealership tomorrow and see what price they offer, but I bet it will be a lot more.
Really, this PPI/compression just overlaps to cover the 30k service is how I"m treating it, considering the warranty looks great and I'll be covered if there is a problem with the car, but obviously need to have scheduled maintencance done anyway for the warranty to remain valid.
Anything I'm missing to look for, suggestions? Dealer will take it where I tell him to get PPI tomorrow or saturday, if it passes that, then I"m putting a $10k deposit on it but can't fly down to pick it up until May 17. Dealer was nice enough to offer to pick me up at the airport too.

Also, I'm looking to buy 997tt 19'' rims , and after putting them on, will be selling the stock wheels with tires. If anyone has 997tt rims for sale, or is interested in buying my 996tt wheels, please PM me.

Lol, I do habitually misspell it, but I never say "trip", rather I say "tip" always. I do the same thing with Schwab, but spell it Schwabb.
