Is there a reason why 90% of turbo's are silver?!

I could not find any actual production numbers so did a quick survey based on vehicles on the market through two popular sites. Based on the numbers it may seem to indicate that people hate trying to keep a black car clean. On the other hand, I think that it safe to say that it only seems like 90% are silver.

My guess is because they wanted a color that would be more widely marketable. A silver car may not be everybody's favorite, but most people don't despise it. A yellow or red car is cool, but is little too much for some people. I like the silver personally, but Seal gray or white is my favorite.

I ordered mine that way. It was the most popular color in 2001 for the 996tt.

I believe, years ago, the car makes paid big $$ to a private marketing research company on what color was the most compromising of all. They figured that most car buyers come into the showroom are 2+ member family. If the husband wants blue and the wife wants red, they don't usually end up with one of these colors. They would most come up with a mutual agreement of a third color, which is silver.

mines not silver! its Seal Grey! I have a black car and it is a beach to keep clean, had a red car as well and it was just too much color. If I was ever fortunate enough to buy a Ferrari it would be red (or silver).
I also remembered Porsche's being silver growing up as well and I must say it looks pretty darn good when dirty and looks great when clean. I'd luv one of those Orange or Bright Green GT3s but just couldn't do it, heck two years later I'm still adjusting to driving a Porsche as it is. I was actually looking for a dark blue but couldn't find one at the time
