Forum Wars Continued: GTR vs 996
#196
This thread has me a little bit spinning. I apologize for any mix up. The point is still the same. I do not want good reputations tarnished.
OhioGT2, can you answer the question that I appeared to misdirect to heavychevy? Otherwise, let's keep it spirited and above board. Like I said above, I do not know of any bad incidents that our members should know about either shop. I'm sure both have their strengths. I can see from here they both have their very loyal following.

I'll be back online Sunday night.

Not knocking the GTR, but if you just want to drag race there are much cheaper ways and you can still look good.
People who buy a GTR as their main car are much like people who buy a turbo porsche. They do it for the history of the car as much as for the performance.

To be honest, if you want a drag car, get a used ZO6 for 40-50k or less and add a built engine or turbos and you will go low 10's high 9's easy. You will save a good 20k on the setup.

Or just get a Busa and really save some $$$$$ I really think using a Porsche or GT-r as a drag platform in just plain crazy

Exactly, heck an Evo (cough!) is a better drag racing platform.

Nah you don't need a built engine to put a C6 Z06 into the low 10's or high 9's. Any form of FI or nitrous will get you there on a stock motor. Or you can even get there N/A but you may have to put up with a lumpy cam!
An Evo is a much better racing platform, but for what it costs to buy an EVO stock there are cars out there built that run in the 10's and in the 9's. But just don't expect them to go to VIR and run with the GT3's!

Gotta love forced induction because it doesn't suffer the power losses an N/A engine would. So scratch that from the choices, its not altogether difficult to make 800 plus rwhp in a stock block C6 Z06. And even in that air thats capable of running in the 9's.

The Supra shop I work closely with posted their 16 2JZ customer builds over the past 30 months with one failure to date due to a re-used oil pump that a cheap customer refused to buy new. 12 of these are making well over 1000hp and are actively racing/driving the cars. No other 'major' shop was willing to post their customer data - and for a reason.
Accerlated?
