Custom headlights on a 996

Has anybody ever opened up their headlight housings do modify the internals? IE paint matching, carbon fiber, etc?

I know many newer european cars, especially ones from BMW, Audi, VW have headlights that use sealant which is impervious to heat, thus won't open up quite so easily.

wondering if the 996's are the same way, or easy to open
