Engine On/Off Cycles before inspection?

Does anyone know roughly how many on/off cycles a 996 turbo needs to go through after clearing a code (and it not coming back) before it is set to be inspected?

Thanks

I think it's about engine run time/miles driven more than ignition cycles. I don't know the exact number, though.

Had to go through this last year. Its actually a complicated series of stop/start/idle/varying speeds that the car has to go through. I went to the DMV and they were able to give me a print out of the exact factory driving requirements to go through after clearing a code. If you go to your DMV I'm sure they can give you a print out as well.

I was told 50 miles by my tuner, and the last time I had to go for a smog check I reset my ECU to the stock program, drove 50 miles, then drove to the inspection station and passed the test.

The term I've seen is a "federal Drive Cycle" spec.

Although the prospect of the California DMV having a clue gave me a laugh!

Man what the hell? I drove mine 100 miles with no code, and it still wasnt ready. Its up at porsche now getting the fuel metering code fixed then they are inspecting it. Im sick of dealing with it.

Different states have different requirements on how many "not ready" codes are permitted. Some of the readiness codes clear fast, others take longer.

drivn- are you just checking your readiness codes, or did a shop tell you 'not ready'?

Put it up on a jack and put a cinder block on the accelerator. Just make sure Cameron doesn't get pissed at his dad and start kicking the grille.
