2010 One Lap of America.. Interesting

No matter what anyone says…GTR is an achievement! When it came out and I saw the weight at 3800lbs…I never thought it would be
Competitive with the best cars out there (Scuderia , Gt3 , ZR1)
With that said, it’s not for me. Don’t like the looks and questionable reliability (based on my experience with a friends car at the track, trans overheats in a few laps…whereas my 2003 car can go on forever!).

It is not unusual for temps to exceed 285deg (under extreme tracking circumstances)... He probably changed his fluids as well (it may break down at those temps).
(Mods: I'm only addressing the off-topic comment, not trying to derail this any further).

I didn't hear anything abou gtr blowing up this year

so if the 996 wins this year, how many times will it have won the one lap event? 6-7? amazing, not the same car either.
Jaspr, the GTR should be competitive in 5 years with more modding and fine tuning if the platform is good and it sure seems to be.
the 996 chassis is extremely stiff. I learned that one day when leaving a parking lot that was steep and someone told me I had one wheel off the ground. . Extremely stiff chasis that takes to modding well. This event along with guys like Tom Kerr and Mikelly who show what this old car can do against modern competition shows it all. I just wonder when people will be bringing out the 997's to competition like this. I would love to see a 997gt2 run this event.

Most accurate statement of both cars.

Still amazing how fast that ACR was though, they still were still 4+ seconds slower at Mid-America. Need more POWAH!!!!

you think the ACR needs more power?
ACR's were built for that track, but traction is still a problem. I need to see more of this event this year. I did not keep up with it this year and last year.

I'm not sure if you saw the final standings but it's over and TopSpeed with Leh Keen did indeed win the 2010 OLOA in their 996 GT2.

Wow, that sucks for Will. I think he's rebuilt it once before already.
