Diverter Valve question

I have 30k miles on 01 TT with the OEM diverter valves. I've not heard anything that I would call a "honking" sound. Guess I'm wondering what the probability that the OEM units are leaking from age at this point? I have an FVD flash and seem to see 1.0 bar boost pretty regularly.

What other indications would there be that they may be leaking?

For replacements, I've seen reference in the past about some replacements being easier to install than others but can't seem to find that post? Was something with smaller size or a 90 degree attachment I think.

Thanks.

Keith

Read how to lower the engine, it will give you 3" give or take. A lot of room when you start w/ about 1/2".

Today I've change my dv's, very very hard to take them out and to put it back, they had to remove the airbox, plenum and to take out some other
hoses !

Now, if they didn't put everything back to normal I should have some errors but it seems that everything is ok or i hope so.

They are to tight there, I really don't know, is this normal !?

How should I test the new dv's, how can I see if they work ok (they are second hand, agency power) ?

And another question, i saw some oil in the intercooler hose, is that normal? The guys from the service said that is ok but i need you opinion too !

I will put some pics :

Thanks !

Yes, oil in IC hose is normal and yes changing DVs is worse than sticking your hand in a blender

Diverter Valve Question.

Thats right, a small ammount of oil on the pipe is normal. But not loads. I have still to do my diverters. Will do it with the engine dropped 3 inches.lol

I replaced mine a few months ago with the Agency Power billet valves. Lowering the engine helps AAAAAAAA LOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT. I honestly don't know how you'd do it without lowering it

I think it's a given that the OEM valves will fail at some point. Either change them before they do or after they do--it's your choice BTW--if you're seeing 1 Bar consistently, do you have a flash? Factory boost is usually in the .7 range

I'll be changing mine pretty soon. My car is all stock execpt for the BMC filter. It has 73K+ on it and I get .9 & 1.0 on it steady when I get on it.
When I do the DVs I'll be changing out the hoses on the ICs ( thanks to Dan @ Vivid ) and doing a pressure test. I'm actually looking foward to getting to turn a wrench on the car.

Lower engine would help. But good clamp pliers will make the task easy!

Your program is not stock if you're seeing 1.0 bar...

Well you could be right? The guy that sold me the car didn't know it was an X50. I found out after running the Vin#. I found a business card from a ( mainly a Mustang ) tuner out of the Denver area that I looked up and the best I can tell went out of Business in 07. So who knows? But to be more specific, it runs .9 pretty steady and will flash 1.0 from time to time. I thought that was normal for an X50.

nah ... car definetly has a tune. my old k24 FVD tune used to run .9bar and barely climb up to 1.0bar. stock is .7 i believe.

Well thanks! I'm not going to be upset if I got a Tuned X50 for the price of a regular 996TT!

The old dv's where in a very good condition, no problems from them but now that i have modified the car it's better to change them
The "problem" is that yesterday the guy from skn put me a new file and is a little bit different from the other one that i had and i didn't have time to test it properly but i am happy that i didn't had any errors from the cats !

Tonight or tomorrow night i will race a friend of mine with an audi rs6 mtm ( 730hp ) just to see the difference and another guy with a 996tt tip (like mine) but he has 9ff ecu.

DRIVN Ind. is infamous around these parts
I was seeing .9 bar easily, and I had one completely cracked and gone, with the other on the way out.
