Differences Between Porsche 996/997 Short Shift and Others Brands

Hi,

What is the best short shifter for a 996 Turbo?

What are the differences between the original Porsche and the others brands?

The original Porsche cost £266 and for exemple the Short Shifter DesignTek cost £168. There are less expensive at ebay.

Best Regards,
Vitor S.

The only choice is the 997 SSK or the standard 997 shifter. Superior to all aftermarket and a direct fit.

I had an older FVD SSk and it was pretty good.

I just upgraded to the 997 OEM SSK and it did live up to the hype. It is a very nice piece and gets my vote. Install is very easy too since it comes assembled already.

Would you mind taking some DIY pictures to supplement your write-up? Thanks.

997 stock shifter is better than the factory 996 SSK.

Converting from B&M Short Shifter

I have a B&M Short shifter at present and considering the change to 997SSK.

Would I expect any problems with the installation since not coming from OEM 996 shifter. I didn't install the B&M so not sure if that would have changed anything or have alignment/adjustment differences from the excellent mikelly DIY?

Thoughts.

I had the B&M. Upgraded to the 997SSK. Very happy with the result. Superior in every way. The most noticeable difference is the smoothness of the shift compared to the B&M.

Same here, I had the techart ssk, and the OEM 997SSK is better in every way.
