Thumbs up Got new engine!!

Well, Porsche replaced my engine due to excessive oil consumption (2 quarts/200 -300).

Now for the break in period which is going to take months this time of year.
No full throttle.
No revving over 4200 rpm.
Try long trips vs short trips
etc

This is gonna suck

Wow, sorry to hear that. At least they made good.

They replaced my RMS yesterday so I am hoping that will eliminate future problems but I am not holding my breath.

Good luck!

Breakin is an old wives tail, all the cars I have ever bought (all of them new except my 2000 996), I have done redline in the first 100 miles as well the harder I was on them during breakin the better they ran!

Thanks.

Nope, I took it easy for the first 300 miles but after that I was pegging the redline.

I have heard conflicting schools of thought on break in. Some say it is critical others say "hose it" right off the lot. I guess I was somewhere in between.

I think breakin is a semi myth, obviously take it a little easier for the first few hundred or so miles, then just have fun
