Were any 996 Turbo cars Non Sunroof?

I am curious as to what 996 turbo cars came without a sunroof. I think that all 996tt's have sunroof's and no 996GT2's do? Is that correct? What about X50's? I really hate sunroof's and was curious what the options were if you want a 996tt. If the sunroof was optional on 996tt, that would be ideal, but I'm sure they're rare if they exist.

I'm pretty sure they were standard with a very rare sun-roof delete option.

Mine is speed yellow with a factory delete. The standard 911 turbo came with it unless you removed it and put a hefty down payment.

Richard Sloan recently sold a 996 Turbo with the "ultra rare sunroof delete option." (his words, not mine)

Just Curious.... but what is the appeal to not having the sunroof? I don't think it would add any significant rigidity or weight savings.

So it is possible, that's great. I just cant stand the idea of one in a sports car. In my engineering mind I know that it sacrifices a fractional amount in rigidity and its a very slight weight gain, but its also at the the most critical spot on the car, and unfortunately in my head I just can't get over it. I'm sure if I find the car that has everything I want, but has a sunroof I can convince myself, but it's great to know there is the possibility of finding one without it.

That's exactly what was the thought in my engineering mind when I was looking for a turbo...

I was "forced" to pass on that point tho...but I don't regret my choice. Noone can feel that little bit of lost rigidity, and that bit of "unnecessary weight" right at the top of the car....I completely forgot about it and enjoy very much driving on sunny days with roof opened..

If sunroof is on the way to getting a 996TT well basically you won't get one.

I would have love a NO sunroof 996TT, obviously it is a drawback in rigidity and weight, reason why the GT3's don't have it, then again the 996TT is a grand tourer thus the sunroof.

So far I haven't opened the sunroof not even once, not even to see if it works, its basically useless to me, specially when having a Boxster that has the largest sunroof one could ever want.

Good luck in your search and to those w/o sunroof cheers and enjoy.

simpler to buy a sunroof car and have the full carbon roof put on with a mild cage installed.

I would have love to have found one tho, headroom is precious!

I didn't know Al was selling his car, man that car is amazing. Is it listed in the classifieds section? I don't remember seeing it. Does he have a full build list somewhere?
