The reports are "within 15 miles of the airport".

That would put in out towards Bastrop or south towards San Marcos.

West or north wouldn't work for environmental reasons and the real estate costs would be huge.

How about east of the airport, near the new 130 Toll Road. There's lots of land out there for miles at a time.

So basically they have 2 yrs to build this track since the first race is in 2012. The official location should become known sooner than later.

I'll be there too...

you'll probably start seeing some earth movers coming in soon to start building it. I hope it will be open to the public the rest of the year.

Very cool info! Was there not a private driving club of some sort near Austin? I recall they had a pretty nice setup, but I never heard anything more about it, perhaps they are using it.

All of the press releases that I have seen so far indicate that one will be purpose built. Cannot wait to see the race there in 2012.

Yes there is here, not sure if it is the seed of an F1 circuit, either way, hope the track will be open to organized events for track junkies the rest of the year!

This is great news. I'll be out that way sometime later this year. Hopefully they'll open it up once in a while for us to have a little fun on it!

15miles from the Airport. That's practically my back yard. This would give me at least one reason to visit Austin.
