Wow!...That video on their site is amazing. What a blast to drive that at a racetrack I'd bet. Some school should get a fleet of them in place of single-seaters.

IIRC, 5th Gear did a test of the Atom vs. Radical, and the Radical just edged it at the track.

I actually did a ride-a-long in a Radical just before winter set in at Gingerman... the thing had tons of grip, and felt decently fast in the straight. (Didn't feel quite as fast in the straight than my modded turbo, but out-corners it by a huge margin.) I was lapping in the 1:36 range (street tires), and I believe he was in the high 1:20s... it was capable of better times, imo. One thing though.. it was so loud, that my ears hurt when going through certain rev-ranges... and I had my Arai helmet on. I'd instincitively reach to cover my ears... doh!

I would wear a helmet in that thing. You would still look cool without taking a rock in the face.

that weight is very optimistic. The guy in Washington that has one says it is just over 1400lbs (closer to 656 kg).

I find it hard to believe that they underestimated the weight of their car by 50 percent. I don't think they could get away with that for very long. Are you sure the guy in washington didn't change anything, or weigh it with him in it etc?

yes i am sure. i misstated a bit though. Here is an exact quote from him in an email to me:

Dear Steve:

Simon is a bit optimistic at 450 kg.
That might be the race car with thin body parts, mag wheels and no fluids
etc.

Mine has been balanced and I have
457 lbs left rear (that's the side with the gearbox)
430 lbs right rear
246 lbs left front and
242 lbs front right.

Total with full tank 1,375 pounds.

Just can't decide ... this ... or a radical ... or ultima gtr ... hmm ...

The nice thing about the ultima is that you can definitely drive it on the street no problem. I wouldn't want to get into an accident with a big SUV in any of them, but the ultima is just awesome too.
