Softronic ECU flash for GT2 only gains 40 HP ?
I am looking to get my ECU flashed. I went to Softronics website and
they claim to add only 40 HP to the 996 GT2 where other tuners are showing much more.
Softronic claims to add 80 HP on 996tt (K16) but only 40 HP for X-50 & GT2 (K24) Any reason why Softronic is the lowest for GT2 & X-50's ?
Evoms claims 60 - 70 HP for the GT2.
AWE (GIAC) claims 65 HP for GT2.
I understand that there is more than just a flash to get real HP gain but
im just curious why the big difference in HP between the tuners.

Does Softronic specify what GT2 year range for that 40hp increase? You can roughly calculate how much power you should have with xxx amount of boost. If the 40hp increase is for later model GT2, which I assume to have slightly more factory boost over early model GT2, then that may explain it.

Tony at EPL tuned my X50 Tip two weeks ago, and I picked up about 40awhp when comparing peak to peak. (That should be a ballpark comparison to a GT2) Apparently the incremental gains from a flash are smaller on K24 cars than on K16s. It should be noted that the power comes on a lot quicker, and at certain points the difference was around 80awhp between the two curves. (Baseline vs. Flashed) The car may have "only" a bit more peak power, but the whole power band is much more usable than stock. Also, in my opinion, EPL gives a very generous upgrade credit when you do new things down the line. This shouldn't be ignored when pricing flashes from vendors, as the next flash may cost you a lot more than you'd expect. The guys couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, and I will be going back to them again as soon as I'm ready for my next bump.

Two things you shouldn't go without on a K24 car are an exhaust, wastegate springs and diverters.
I started with just a tune and was sorely disappointed, then I got an exhaust and diverters (after mine literally blew apart like a grenade). Still wasn't thrilled. The wastegates brought it all together. DON'T SKIMP ON THESE THREE REQUIREMENTS AND YOU CAR WILL FLY!!!
As far goes exhaust goes I recommend either Markski's (911 tuning) or John's (speedtechexhausts)
There are lots of very respected tuners: GIAC, UMW, 911 Tuning, EVO, PROTO, FVD, UMW, EPL, SCOTTRONIC, etc..
You can expect 550 HP with this maxed out K24 setup. After that you will need turbos, injectors and intercoolers...

I'm a 996tt owner and I am considering a flash as well. I was pointed to the Revo technik for the best combination of power through the entire rpm range. The revo tune also allows some adjustability by the end user. For example, you can switch between settings based on fuel octane.

So did your switcher come with a bunch of preloaded files when you order it?

I having the flash done at a local shop. I believe that the software and cable enable you to define settings for each of the switch points. I took a ride in a 996tt with the Revo map and it was a very impressive application of the boost. It never really felt like a turbo car as much as a huge normally aspirated engine.
