A buddy of mine offered these guys from bimmer forums to use our vbox. A guy with an upgraded turbo 335 wanted to race my friend with a Supercharged ESS VT600 E92 M3 for the 500whp E92 showdown.

Somehow I got dragged into this to race an HPF Stg2 M3 that makes 560-580rwhp, I said I'll run it from a dig as I normally do...I am rear wheel drive and did not put on drag radials to run him.

Races went down and everyone is flaming me there for not doing rolls with it and how I am a dbag and I am not fair - which is , since I said several times that I will only run from a stop. To be fair I didn't run a drag radial.

I do rolls but with friends only who want to compare their car to mine not people who start internet drama or people that just want to say "I beat a modded Porsche Turbo".

One other fun fact -On the second race I gave both BMWs a car headstart and the break (meaning I do not go on green, I go when the opponent goes) to make it more interesting. The guy in the car that took off first (video was taped from inside his car) accused me of rolling up to the light before it turned green. Which of course I didn't do since I could have just started there in the first place.

No one is trash talking you, what they are saying is the guy was nice enough to give you the race you wanted and you should have had the decency to reciprocate instead of running off.

Exactly what mods do you have? I'm thinking not many at less than 500whp. Also, are you running an LSD with your RWD conversion or the stock open diff?

I did not care for this race. It was offered to me. I said yes - as I normally would.

WTF do you mean decency? We both agreed on the same race!!! He just didn't like the outcome. I didn't cheat him, I didn't hussle him out of money, I didn't say anything negative/derogatory to him. I did what I do, drag race. It's really that simple

 

Hey - Scott. My car just has the driveshaft removed for now, I did that to dyno and just decided to keep it that way thru the summer. It has stock diff, stock clutch.

You said you won't race from a roll. He said he doesn't race from a stop and does not drag race. You were not willing to go from a roll so he went from a stop simply as respect for a fellow enthusiast.

You did not show the same respect by refusing to do the same for him. It isn't a matter of money or such but if it wasn't such a big deal why are you playing it up so much?

You did the race that best favored you as you would have lost from a roll, it is really that simple. If it isn't about winning or losing then go race him from a roll.

He disrespected me on a public forum, said I was scared to come out along with other BS.
Then he apologized, so we set up a time I told him even before we ran not knowing the outcome that this is what I run, he said fine.
If he doesn't race from a stop he shouldn't have raced. If he didn't want to he shouldn't have done it. I did not pressure him, I did not call him out, I did not insult him.

What's next an Auto-X or HPDE event, maybe drift or rally ?

At this point it's about standing my ground, I do not get peer pressured.

 

What does it matter? The HPF car lost badly to a car with hardly any mods (exhaust, tune, FPR), RWD with no LSD, on street tires, making only 500rwhp? Hell, the P-car was at a disadvantage! That's barely an 11-second car in that configuration.

Maybe next time he shouldn't race from a dig.

 

I've run a number of stage 2 HPF E46 cars in the past with my 996TT, and I can say there is NO WAY IN HELL that car can hook up from a stop. Even 1st gear roll, the car goes sideways, and 2nd gear, he still has issues at times hooking up... thus I don't see why he gave into racing from a dig unless he's on drag radials because he basically just bogs from a stop and then won't have enough time to catch a modded TT. After 120ish... the stage 2 HPF car just pulls hard!

 

Exactly. The race was fair. The 2nd race I gave a length and the break even though he did not ask for it. I just wanted it to be a better run. people think I set this up to make fun of the guy, when in reality he was the one trying to sucker me into a roll. My car makes 480whp, his car makes 560-580whp from what he said, my car is heavier.

I'll be blunt with this one ..... but if you are trying to set up a roll with a car that has 80-100whp less then you and is heavier how does that make you an enthusiast?!?!?!?!? What is so enthusiastic about picking on less powerful cars for purpose throwing it up on youtube. Outcome is obvious.

Where on the other hand a drag race evens the playing field between cars with different power, since there is actually skill involved.

I told him right off the bat that I wasn't a rookie, he still went for it.

 

He actually hooked up in 1st gear somehow on the 2nd run, 2nd gear is where he spun. But that is what I was counting on to level the race out. I thought he would catch me top end as a lot of cars have and make it interesting.

Congrats on a good run... especially if he hooked up, it's a good result for your level of mods. Are you on race gas?
